Horton Halfpott

It's the last day of summer break, which ended with some more reading from a fun book we've all gotten sucked into the last several nights.

It's called "Horton Halfpott (Or the Fiendish Mystery of Smugwick Manor Or the Loosening of M'Lady Luggertuck's Corset)."  We'll just stick with the name "Horton Halfpott" for now.  Or how about just "that book."

Anyway, this has been a fun read for all of us, one where Mommy and Daddy sit with Madison, and the three of us enjoy the book just as much as the others.  It has plenty of humor for kids Madison's age, while having some jokes in there for Mommy and Daddy too.  All in all, it's been great fun reading, and awfully hard to stop each night.  But there is a bedtime now, and we've got to make sure we stick with that or Madison will be tired in the morning.  Like Mommy and Daddy will be!

We had a great service tonight, and here's where all the kids from second grade go to third grade and so on.  It was the day for everyone to be 'moving on up!'  There was quite a bit of energy at KidPak this evening.

It was a quiet day, although Daddy did go to work for a bit.  He's been desperately trying to finish a Star Wars devotional that needs to be wrapped up this week.  Madison watched television shows, played piano to catch up a bit there, and did some origami as well.  She has bits of paper and tape everywhere.  Seriously, the tape thing is a big deal.  We go through SO MUCH tape.  But she's being creative, and it's hard to stop that at all.

So it was a nice last day of summer break.  We even had a chance to sleep in a bit this morning, where Madison crawled into bed with us once more.  How nice, snoozing in a little late, the three of us!

School starts tomorrow though, and it all starts early.  So off to bed for everyone, going to bed earlier tonight.  It'll take a bit to get used to, but it's going to be a fantastic year.
