Tonight I was looking for the chipmunks in the back yard when I noticed this little guy scurrying around. We have a neighborhood cat, and at the time I had no idea that baby blue jays actually leave their nest and can't fly for about five days. Mom and dad blue jay were nearby I'm fairly sure, but our thinking was that this bird was in trouble. So we fed him/her some berries, something we looked up online, and left it outside in a bird cage that we just got, one with a blanket over top of it. The thinking was that we'd release it in the morning, hopefully better off than before and certainly safe from any evening predators. I don't think we did anything that was harmful, necessarily. In fact, again there's a cat out there. But at the time, we didn't know this was all a blue jay rite of passage.
He sure is a loud little guy. But he slept well through the night, and you'll see some dandy pictures of the next part of his adventure tomorrow.
Tonight was taekwondo for Madison, her black belt class. She was sparring with a new opponent that she hadn't faced before, and she did pretty well, evading the leg kicks while coming right back with one-two fist fiesta. It's more challenging, but she's having a great time still.
It's the last Friday of school today, and things are wrapping up. In fact, there's only one test left, and that's in math on Monday, a test that covers Trigonometry. The grade is designed in such a way that the final score can only help her, and cannot hurt her, and she seems to be really ready for it.
I was returning to Oz today, going back a series that I wrote last summer. At the time it was an imaginary series, one that was just a pipe dream where I was thinking that some day we might do this series, but you never know. I wasn't actually expecting to do it any time soon, if at all. Anyway, we're doing it. Back then, in my spare time I wrote a devotional and a five-message series, and it's actually going to happen at KidPak! Today I was going back and proofing what was written, and also trying to come up with a series title. It was "Over the Rainbow," but we're trying to come up with something that might be more interesting to the boys. We might just go with "Oz," and that's okay. Anyway, here we go, moving forward on this series and planning it out. It's going to be great.
We watched some of our new programming tonight, the new Friday night stuff, and after that an episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." After that, back to "Kingdom Keepers," and a bit from Exodus, followed by prayers. It was a good day, but this weekend is going to be pretty full.
