Clowning Around

"Big Top" is up and going, and tomorrow's service continues a look at the more traditional circus act by act.  Tomorrow's theme is all about the human cannonball, which we've done quite a bit here at KidPak in the past.  It just keeps coming up, which is kind of funny. Anyway, we have a couple videos dedicated to the subject, including a new one that Daddy is in.  No, I'm not launched from a cannon.  The message is a good one though, and the skit should be fun, one that features a reluctant character that needs to learn how to "aim higher."  It sounds like an Air Force thing, and I suppose it is.  The whole idea of getting a vision of where you want to go is something universal.

But here's Madison, who wanted to be on stage tomorrow.  It just so happens that Mommy found a clown costume, and here she is, clowning around.  She won't have any lines, but then again, many clowns don't.  That'll be fun.

We spent a good part of the day at the office, working on getting things going.  Madison did a bit of reading today, and also some piano homework this morning.  She's eight measures into "The Hall of the Mountain King," so you can imagine that song is in our heads.  At least it's not that "Run Rabbit Run" song anymore.  For some reason, Mommy and Daddy had that stuck in our heads ever since we saw "Mrs. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children."

Other music that we have in our head:  "Hot Cross Buns."  Madison knows how to play this because it's easy to play on a recorder if you know the three notes.  The practice is getting her familiar with the recorder, because soon enough, she'll be playing more complicated tunes.  I can't imagine anything less complicated at this point.

It's been a warm day.  One week ago, it was frigid with snow on the ground that lasted until Tuesday or so.  Now it's actually warm enough to walk outside without a jacket.  Interesting weather for sure!  Tonight, we read some more, time traveling back to George Washington's first Inauguration Day.  And we read from the Bible too, about Lot and Abram's decision to part ways.  Lot is one of those guys that always seemed to make bad decisions.  Of course, not as bad as his wife's decisions, but still.

So tonight we're rehearsing lines and getting costumes ready for tomorrow.  We're going back to the Big Top, and everyone is looking forward to it!
