Going Rogue

Finally we went to go see "Rogue One" today.  Madison was excited to see this movie, and had been asking for a few weeks now.  Today turned out to be a great day to see it - and there was still a big crowd there in the theater.  Our local theater was purchased by AMC, who discontinued the free popcorn bucket deal - if we only knew that earlier, we could have taken advantage of our yearly popcorn bucket.  There's already a strike against you, AMC.  You just took away one of the reasons we even go to that theater.

But I digress.  The movie was good, although we all agreed we liked "The Force Awakens" better.  This is one of those movies you can't talk about too much without throwing out spoilers here and there, but there were a few great surprises and little Easter eggs as well.  The three of us enjoyed it though, and Madison was glad to have seen it.  I was worried about her, considering the fact that it was doubtful that any of the characters in this movie would survive.  But she did great, not really as bothered by things as Daddy would be when he was her age.  She's a lot tougher than I was!

It's been raining all day, which is great.  It was a challenging drive home, but otherwise, we're so grateful for the rain falling.  The temperature is in the low fifties, so there's no chance of frozen precipitation, although there is a chance of that later on this week.  We'll see how all that goes.

We got home, and we built Gravedigger.  Madison got that from Jingle Bells a few weeks ago, and we decided to build it tonight to add just one more monster truck to her collection.  Now she has five monster trucks in her room, each one mounted by a Vinylmation wrestler.  They watch over her as she sleep!

It was a fairly routine construction, mainly because she's used to putting together monster trucks I suppose.  But it did get done, and we showed off the project to Mommy, and eventually Nana by way of the cell phone.  Nana is wanting to go see an actual monster truck rally, because she thinks it'll be fun.  And the thing is, we'd all like to try it maybe once.  We like trying new things, right?

Anyway, after that, we played a board game.  One of Madison's resolutions in 2017 is to play more board games, so we played Star Wars LIFE again.  She had a great time.  We also played some Disney Infinity after that, testing out some of the new characters.  Can you believe we now have all of the figures and all of the power discs?  After Christmas, it became official:  we have the whole collection.  It's a lot.  And it was still fun to play, as we were running around beating each other up, and of course the bad guys that were lurking on the screen.

We continued reading our Princess Leia book tonight, and we actually got to bed a little later than normal.  But the de-Santafication process has definitely begun:  we got down the one tree by the front door, with ornaments, lights and all.  That was all packed away, and the tree is even downstairs now.  One down, three to go.

Mommy made this delicious soup that was pureed carrots, apples, and a bit of ginger.  It was thick and creamy and delicious tonight, perfect for a cold rainy sort of day.  We spent a lot of time straightening things out a bit, which is what I think we'll be doing throughout the rest of the week.  It'll take some effort to convert the house from Christmas to Chinese New Year, but we're on the way now.  The Chinese New Year is just around the corner, so we'll have to put up the Christmas movies, and bring out the Chinese New Year ones.

Anyway, it's been a good day today.  We did a little work towards KidPak, but not much else could be done as everyone is taking today off.  Tomorrow we'll really hit the ground running, and on top of that, there's piano class again.  Things are starting up again, and 2017 is really here!
