Shang-Chi

Today we saw our first movie in the theaters this year.  That's right, we have not seen a movie in the theater in 2021 yet.  But that all changed today, nine months in.  Because the latest Marvel movie was only shown in theaters, and you know how we are about Marvel movies.  We couldn't miss this one, and didn't want anything spoiled, so together we drove over to Gainesville this time, and we got a big tub of popcorn, some drinks, and a few seats.  We saw about fifteen trailers before the actual movie, but when that movie started, it was fantastic.  We saw "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," which was just a great movie.  Much is being made of the fact that it is mostly an Asian cast and so forth, and I suppose given Maddie's background, we should be celebrating that.  But putting all that aside, the movie was just a great, well-made production.  We enjoyed the atmosphere of the movie when the story shifted over seas, but the heart of this is certainly the characters.  We all enjoyed it, and the mid-credits scene, and then the post-credits scene as well.  This will certainly be a part of the collection when it comes out again, and I'm guessing we'll be seeing it again around Chinese New Year for sure.

Now I have to go to the basement and find those Shang-Chi comics I have down there.  I know I have a few...

We were out today, picking up a few things for the scarecrow that Mom is working on.  The hummingbird battles continue outside, with our friend hummingbird we've named "Miss Bossy" battling off anyone who wants to drink from "her" feeder.  It's her backyard now, and no one else has a right to be there.  Fortunately, she leaves us alone!

It rained today, and it will rain tomorrow too.  We're just in a pattern of lots of rain.  That's okay.  The weather is certainly cooler, and approaching fall levels of comfort outside.  It's actually cool in the mornings, which is super pleasant.  There's a sense that summer's assault is nearly over, and that fall is here.  We're in the "Ber" months now, and there's plenty to look forward to, I hope.

Tonight we got home and had some spaghetti, killed some spiders, and watched the hummingbirds battle a bit.  Maddie and I went back to Jurassic World, at least with some LEGO characters.  We did a few levels of that game because of our ongoing series, of course.  I forgot how much fun those LEGO games are.  Lately, it's a race to see who can get the most coins.  Maddie clearly won today.

Afterwards, we were reading from our Kingdom Keepers book before bedtime.  Only two chapters to go, and there seems to be quite a bit of story left to tell.  But Maddie's enjoying the story, and I'm glad to be back with the team again, reading of their adventures.  We prayed afterwards, and got to bed earlier again. Everyone's back to school tomorrow, so we need an early night of course.  I'm not working tomorrow, but still, it's been a tiring weekend Saturday and Sunday.  Hopefully we'll all get a good night's rest this evening.
