A Quiet Fall Break

It's been a while since sharing some taekwondo pics, so here's a few of Maddie in black belt class with a few other students, doing some self defense maneuvers as well as working on her form.  Monday nights have a few classes, with Maddie doing a leadership class as well.  But she's doing well, and she's really enjoying it, always with a lot to say for the journey home.  There was a sparring spree tonight, where the students were actually sparring with Master Edge for a time.  Maddie was going after him too!  It was pretty fun to watch.  Of course, Master Edge was taking it easy on everyone.  But it was great watching him toy with all the students.

We got to sleep in today as it was Fall Break for Maddie.  I got up and had a bowl of pumpkin spice Cheerios for the first time - it was definitely quite a bit of pumpkin spice in there, but it's okay as a seasonal treat.

The rain was just incredible today.  It was a heavy rain, and it was constant all the way deep into the night.  There were no breaks, but just this perpetual deluge.  I believe this has something to do with a tropical storm that has been in our vicinity.  It was just relentless all day - obviously, we weren't going anywhere special.

We watched a few movies, because we had to, including this one old seasonal movie that we'd never seen before, "The Ghosts of Buxley Hall."  It was okay for an afternoon flick in the background.  I was on the treadmill a good bit today, trying to get my blood pressure down, as it has been rising a tad lately.

Tonight's movie after taekwondo was "Book of Life," by Maddie's request, although after that we watched a few things because we don't have to get up early for school tomorrow.  We saw the Halloween episode of "WandaVision" and even the new Descendants animation that showed Ben's and Mal's wedding.  The animation wasn't as great, but all the actors came back and it was a nice little closure for Maddie's generation who were basically raised with these characters.  We were reminiscing about the Octobers where Maddie would dress up in costumes of Mal, Evie, and of course Uma.  How difficult it was to get a Mal costume that first year, and how we got the Uma one right away for the second movie, and how difficult that one was to get for everyone else!  Of course we also had that KidPak series too, one with most of the characters there on stage as well.  It's a big part of Maddie's history, so obviously it was great watching this episode tonight.  There was a hint at things to come at the end, but we'll see how that goes.

In the meantime, we were in bed tonight a little later.  We still read from our book, and we prayed tonight as well.  It was a good day, although a rather uneventful one.  And that's okay for Maddie, I suppose, given that she doesn't have to work so hard on school assignments this week.  Anyway, we got to bed later tonight, and slept soundly through the night, the sound of heavy rain still pounding down on our roof overhead.
