Here's the scarecrow that Mom was working on today, and as you can see, it's coming along really well! She's been working hard on the form, and had somewhat of a game plan, but ultimately, she kept things flexible enough as she moved along, sort of literally "making it up as she went along." We'll have pictures of the finished product soon enough. It's turning out really well though!
It rained today, which has been a theme of the summer continuing apparently into the fall. Hurricanes and tropical storms have added to the mix, although this rain system is not necessarily related to that. It's just lots of water. Along those lines, we're about to get our gutters fixed again soon enough, as they have been getting clogged with leaves. We'll get some of those gutter guards, and that will help out, I'm sure.
Miss Bossy, our resident hummingbird, has moved on with her migration I guess. We have a new visitor or two, including a new dominant and territorial green male with a red throat. Definitely a beautiful bird - or, given his gender we'll call him a "handsome" bird.
I went to Lowe's with my parents today to get the materials for a fire pit for the back yard, the idea being that we'll get that fire pit set up by the time our pumpkin party starts in about a month or so. Looking forward to that!
Tonight Maddie had her small group, and of course celebrating our holiday today meant celebrating Ampersand Day. Yep, it's the day to celebrate this symbol: &. From what I've read, the date "SEPTEMBER 8" can be written in such a way that it uses the ampersand, replacing the letters. That's why they made it Ampersand Day. We were looking for a more exciting sort of holiday, but this was so obscure, we went with it and made it work for a goofy game tonight for small groups.
