Fire Pit

The fire pit is going to be great.  We got a good bit of it done today.  Mom did most of the set-up work while I was hauling down those heavy bricks, although Nana insisted on carrying one or two, but in the end, we have the fire pit set up, at least the sand and bricks.  Mom made sure everything was level at the foundation, and we went from there, just carefully stacking one upon another.  The end product is looking great, although we still need to add gravel and a grate within before we actually use the thing.  The hope is that it is ready by our pumpkin carving party.

The hummingbirds have stuck around, despite the drop in temperature, getting good long drinks from the feeder in order to make the migration trip upcoming.  We were sitting outside with sweatshirts and warmer clothing, just sitting on the deck there with some tea as we watched the hummingbirds flit up to the feeder for a drink of their own.  There's a new female around, and a younger male too.  Both are able to get in some substantial sips before Mr. Bossy comes around and pushes them away.  We were watching one hummingbird down in the garden, going from purple flower to purple flower, and sure enough after a bit of this, Mr. Bossy noticed him down there and made his way down to let the other bird know who's backyard this was.  It's not ours apparently.  If we were just a bit smaller, I think he'd be pushing us around too, ordering more drinks and maybe a huge amount of hummingbird furniture from IKEA, along with back rubs and large screen television (which for him would be about the size of an iPad).

It's been an odd week for KidPak, given that one came down with the virus and others are now quarantined.  We're working from home largely, doing what we did so well last year.  Some of the timing of all of this is just amazing.  Two weeks ago, our message about Job - written years ago - wound up being done on 9-11, and it was the same theme that was spoken upstairs in the main sanctuary.  And this weekend' message was originally a "movie message," which requires very little for video editing or people being there.  And sure enough, we can't do much on video editing, and there are people not there.   So it all works out anyway, and we'll be fine.  Everything works out for the good of those that love the Lord.

That being said, I finished up the new message for this weekend, and got the video clips and screen images all lined up for a great morning, I hope.  I also finished skit #4 for Neverland at the other campuses.  The goal was to do five skits this week, and I might come up just short, but getting four done in a week is pretty good, with all the other stuff going on.

We had taekwondo for a bit tonight, and that's been good for Maddie.  She's helping instruct again, and she's working on her presentation should she ever go to perform in front of judges.  She loves it there.  We got home afterwards and watched 2016's "Ghostbusters" movie, concluding our run of the movies, although we also spent a little time actually playing the "Sanctum of Slime" game.  We got about four or five levels in - I'm not too sure - and then called it quits, so I could head out there and haul bricks down for the fire pit.

The joro spiders have decided not to give up advancing upon our territory, and so we've been at it again, fighting off webs dangling everywhere and ginormous spiders hanging at face level wherever you walk.  It would be terrifying for me as a kid.  These things are huge, and there's so many of them.  I measured one on the back deck and it was around 3 and a half inches long!  How'd you like to have that in your face?  Appropriate for October, for sure.  But this invasive species has been a headache.  I've been hanging outside Maddie's window, zapping them down and getting long sticks to get rid of the web coating all over our house.

It was a gorgeous day today.  I've been walking on the treadmill more this week, but tomorrow I may actually go walk the trail across from Edge ATA while Maddie is practicing there.  It's just a beautiful day for a walk.  Unless, of course, you walk into a great big web or something!

Anyway, tonight we read from our book again, and then we prayed.  It was late, and we're hoping to get out tomorrow.  It'll be a good day.
