Elephant Appreciation Day

It was the first day of Fall today, but for some reason with our small group game, I found another national day, "Elephant Appreciation Day."  So we did a memory game tonight, or at least Camille and her small group - including Maddie - did the game.  How many gray elephants were there in the picture you just saw?  That sort of thing.  Maddie had fun in small groups, but Camille has been sick.  And in fact, a viral bomb went off at KidPak when Josh finally came down with the virus, and this in turn got a few others like Camille and Isaac quarantined and taking tests to see if they're clear.  Camille is not clear for another six days or so, although she is probably negative with her testing.  Despite Isaac's negative testing, he's still stuck at home.  I'm in the clear, because I had it pretty strong a few weeks ago and am just oozing with antibiotics now.  I probably give off a six foot aura of healing from this thing.  That would be a pretty cool super power, actually.

Anyway, as mentioned earlier, it was the first day of Fall.  And wow, what a way to start the season!  The relentless rain from the last few days has ceased, and the temperature did quite a bit of a plunge to remind everyone that there are in fact seasons around here.  Things dried out, or are drying out, and the sun shone brightly and there were huge gaping breaks in the clouds and this beautiful blue sky, which we haven't seen at all in quite some time.  It was a a gorgeous day, with a beautiful sky at night and a nearly full moon hanging there low on the horizon, with such brightness.

We were writing Neverland skits today, and dressing up in complicated cardboard battle armor and going to war against each other.  That might be easier to talk about later when we air the footage.  But it was pretty fun.

Maddie was relaxing a good bit today on her Fall break today.  She's got her dress and mask together for the masquerade, so there's peace there - no frantic shopping.  Although I think for her, getting to try on numerous dresses might not be as stressful of a thing.

Tonight we watched "Ghostbusters II," just soaking in all the Ghostbusters nostalgia.  Tomorrow we're going for the full sweep with the 2016 movie, and we might even be playing the "Sanctum of Slime" a bit tomorrow - Maddie was wanting to revisit that game.  Not sure if we'll get past that one level or not - we'll see!

Anyway, it was a nice day today, made nicer by the appearance of fall, a change of seasons that may do us all good.
