Maddie's Halloween costume arrived today and this is one she's been waiting on for years.
She's been wanting a Wanda Maximoff costume for a few years now, because ever since I can remember, Wanda has been her favorite of the Avengers. I think Spider-Man has recently come to the top place, but Wanda was a character that Maddie really, really wanted to dress up as in October.
The challenge was that the Scarlet Witch was not upper level Avenger enough to get her own costume. You could find Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor. You could find Rocket Raccoon and Star Lord. But no Black Widow or Scarlet Witch, really. Unless you were willing to pay a whole lot more for some customized costumes.
But fortunately this year, there's a surge of Wanda costumes because of the success of "WandaVision." Some of those costumes are pretty pricy still, but we found this one online, and it's ironically the one that she wanted - I think it's from the movie "Civil War."
Regardless of what movie is represented here, it's Wanda Maximoff, and Maddie was thrilled when this was dropped off at our porch a day earlier than advertised. A lot of these more elaborate costumes were coming from overseas, and we just weren't sure about that delivery date, certainly considering the global situation of late. So yeah, we've got our costume for the year, and yeah, she's pretty excited about it.
Maddie was at Team Edge today, practicing for her performance which is creeping closer. It's in December, but when you only count the weekends, there aren't that many practice dates left. They spent the day attempting to get as synchronized as possible.
We were shopping today for groceries and for other items on our list, such as shampoo, bug spray, and probably the most important thing we could get: Monster Mash Cereal.
You've just got to get this one. We've already got the Count Chocula, and the plan is to get Frankenberry and Booberry soon enough. But this is the fiftieth anniversary of these cereals, and the makers of all of the Monster cereals have created a new cereal, a "Franken-cereal" of sorts. It's a box filled with all the monster cereals combined. I tried some as soon as I got home, and yes, I love it. Now that I'm using almond milk, I can go back to having bowls of cereal again, and it's delicious.
It was a quiet day today. We watched "Men in Black" tonight, part of our October-themed movie series. We started it late though, so we were in bed pretty soon after that. We're almost done with book five of the Kingdom Keeper series - one more day should do it. We read towards the ending tonight, and then of course we prayed together. We've got to get up early for another great day at KidPak.
And another bowl of cereal...
