Taekwondo in the Dark

Tonight in Oakwood there was a pretty widespread power outage.  It was an expansive area, and that included the Edge studios when we arrived there.  We had no idea - you could say we were "in the dark!"  But regardless of the dimming light, the students plunged forward, practicing the best they could under the circumstances.  And it was kind of fun, or at least it sort of looked that way.  Eventually the lights did come back on, but I think they were out there doing the entire leadership class in the dark.  Black belt class started up about the time that the power came back on, and there was the excitement and squinting eyes when all the lights were at full strength once more.  It was a fun and certainly a memorable night!

Nana kept asking, "Why's the power out?"  At which point I'd reply, "I don't know.  I'm in the dark."  And then she'd laugh at the terrible dad joke, and ten minutes later ask again, "Why'd the power out?"  At which point I'd reply, "I don't know.  I'm in the dark."  And then she'd laugh at the terrible dad joke, and ten minutes later....

It was a pretty eventful day in Dawsonville as well, although the lights were on the entire time.  Mom was over there at the senior care center, actually checking out the place and reserving a room, all while I was doing some grocery shopping with Nana.  Nana had no memory of the place where Mom was dropped off, despite being there twice with the social worker.  Furthermore, she didn't read the signs like "Assisted Memory Care" or even really question where it was Mom was being dropped off or why.  So it all went rather smoothly.  She's checked in, so to speak, setting the table for this Wednesday with the return visit of the nurse who first suggested either medication or hospitalization.  We'll see what happens, or rather, we'll find out what happens afterwards, as neither Mom nor I will be there.  The social worker is going to pick Nana up, and take her down to Braselton for a return visit to the other facility, where that nurse will once again be waiting.  If things go the way they are expected to, Nana will be taken to a hospital or a facility that can help her get nourishment and proper medication so she'll be improved enough to enter the next chapter of her life at the senior center.  At least, that's the hope.  We'll see how things unfold.

Tonight we had taekwondo, of course, as you read above.  We watched an episode of "The Chosen, shortly after Maddie finished her homework, but otherwise it was a quiet night.  We read from "Interesting Times," somewhat, and we're approaching the end of that story already.  It's been a fun read.  We said our prayers and after that was bedtime.

Im still getting in my treadmill time, walking through Alburquerque with a POV video, all while listening to an interview with Weird Al.  We'll have to watch that movie "Weird" sometime soon for sure.  Anyway, we got to bed early, and we'll get ready for a quiet day tomorrow.  It sure is getting chilly outside though!
