Jumping In 2023

Tonight we had our first martial arts class, with Maddie back to form, or at least working on a new form along with the other students.  Edge Martial Arts has made some big changes, and it appears as if everyone is up to the challenge.  Of course tonight's class was pretty small comparatively speaking.  Usually these classes are bustling with students, but tonight was January 2nd, and there were a lot of students still out on vacation from the break.  Yeah, we don't go places much lately, so we were here and ready for practice!  Maddie enjoyed her classes, and it was a quiet night there at Edge.

Nana and I started on this one, and I did some other work on it as well, but Maddie got going pretty well with it and finished it up tonight, a puzzle themed to "Fantasia."  I love the little things that don't necessarily belong in the Fantasia world:  Mrs. Potts, Jiminy Cricket, and even Tinkerbell are all hidden within this puzzle.  Along with the walking brooms, fairies, Chernabog, and of course Mickey Mouse.  I love those Fantasia movies, and after doing this puzzle, I kind of want to watch them again!  Right now though, we're watching a few other things tonight.  Maddie's really enjoying "The Chosen" now, and we're committed to watching one per night until we run through all of them.  We're also watching "The Bad Batch" too, and tonight's big movie was the musical "Mathilda," which we watched as well.  It's a lot of television, but we were keeping Nana busy with that.  More on that in a bit, but in regards to "Mathilda," we liked it, although Maddie and I prefer the non-musical version, believe it or not.  Emma Thompson, however, was incredible as Ms. Trunchbull.  The make-up was incredible.

Anyway, as for Nana, she was off to Dawsonville to check out another location, a possible place to live.  The location was a better match, oddly enough than the one in Braselton.  On one hand, we were thinking the Braselton location was ultimately nicer in appearance, or at least more like something we ourselves would prefer.  But there was something about that Dawsonville location, and so right now that is our leading candidate.  There were people to talk to and it seemed like there were things to do there.  There are a lot of other advantages too, such as memory care facilities and an urgent care directly across the street.  It's about fifteen minutes from our house too, and right across the street (or interstate), there's a Goodwill, so there's actually something we can do together if we visit.  Nana goes back and forth about wanting to go, but she's definitely in decline.  This may be due to her refusal to eat what Mom makes and a lack of nutrition.  We're wondering how we could ever get any medication to her, but I believe that this new location will have enough social interaction that her spirits will lift and she might eat and even take medication to help with her mind.  That's our thinking anyway.  Today was a big day though.  She didn't hate the place, and that's a big deal.

We did a few mad-libs today, and I was spending a lot of time taking down ornaments off the piano room tree, all while the fake fireplace was roaring there, keeping me warm.  It was a chilly day out there!

This is day number two of the fast, and we're all doing well with that.  Obviously, we're watching "The Chosen," and Mom is even now using the same Bible app that Maddie used last year.  She finished it on New Year's Eve, having read the entire Bible - or at least heard it - in one year's time.  That's pretty amazing stuff.  Out of all the accomplishments of the year, that's a big one that I'm super proud of.

I was on the treadmill again today, and it was such a beautiful POV walk through London at midnight while the snow was pouring down.  It was beautiful.  We read tonight from our book, and we said our prayers, and after that, it was time for bed.  We've got to start getting to sleep earlier, as later on this week... gulp!  School is coming!
