Year Art

We got a call from Nana, and she said she's doing really well down there in Florida.  Which of course is not where she is, but she seems to be doing well.  And it's a mix of relief and humor here, as we were actually worried about things quite a bit, given the lack of information we've had of late.  But things are moving forward, and that's good, and we can relax somewhat.  It's weird being in one frame of mind all this time and suddenly shifting gears and not worrying quite as much about the responsibility of taking care of that extra person, making sure the television is set for this or that food is eaten or that we're going here or there and do you want to come along and all the walking on eggshells occasions that were so frequent the last two and a half years.  But here we are, perhaps on the other side of it all.  We'll see how things go from here of course.

Today we were planning the return of Aslan to KidPak, and I think the kids are going to like it.  Pastor Lance portrayed Aslan some time ago in a play, and I thought it would be great for him to do the voice work for Aslan this time.  So Aslan will be here this weekend for the skit, and it's going to be pretty awesome.

We're battling with the squirrels, and it's been fun watching them try hot sauce mixed in those seeds, and watching them wiggle their heads and try and shake off the intense heat that comes with eating the birdseed we keep telling them is not for them.  We've got a separate place for them, but squirrels like to ruin everything.  They'll not only take what's for them, they'll take everything else and ruin everything else along the way too.  Squirrels ruin everything.

Anyway, it's a quiet day today.  Maddie has made this bit of artwork of her year, and we'll share that here in a bit.  It's an outline of the number of the year, and within that are graphics, drawings, and images that made up the entire year.  It turned out really well!

Tonight we were back in the Discworld with our reading, and reading our devotional too, of course.  Things are now quiet in the house, and the atmosphere is quite different with Nana gone from the house.  This is the best course of action, as she'll be eating more and be taking her medication, two things that she was not willingly doing at our house.  That alone will be helpful, as she'll hopefully start gaining weight again.  We're hoping she'll take to her new surroundings, and that the shock of all of it will wear off.  She's been looking around for a new place, but nevertheless, her memory is such that she has no idea what's going on.  Her memory is such that she's thinking that she's had some health episode that required medical attention, and here she is recovering.  And we'll go with that.  The bottom line is that she'll improve physically, something that was actually not happening before, and then we'll go on from there.

We said our prayers tonight, and then it was time for bed.  Got to get up early for school tomorrow!
