Vikings on a Quest

Here's Calvin this morning, telling his epic saga.  This morning's service was rooted in the classic Viking saga - but we turned it all on its head when we told the true saga of David, and his experience at Ziklag.  It's such a rich and wonderful story that Daddy included all of it in the sermon booklet, rather than excerpts and passages.  The point of it all is the part we play in our own saga, and how we act.  Some in that Biblical story were greedy or selfish, and others were wanting to stone David.  Some were villainous.  David sought help from God, and acted the part of a true hero.  It was a great morning.

We had our usual worship, and we did the Viking ring toss again, although this was the first time that many had seen that game, given that it was on a Sunday instead of a Friday night.

Our characters were all back, including Rona, above, and also Chef Florian and Nerdo, below.

It's been a fun series, although a little challenging with the writing, given that these are all characters - mostly - from the books and movies.  But nevertheless, it's been fun.

Here's Josh with his big hammer.  This is the same hammer our character from Summer Xtreme used, and it's great to see it make a cameo within this series.  Josh isn't necessarily a character in the skits, but instead a host of our game segment.  This was a good game, the Viking ring toss.  Next week's game should be fun too - you'll have to wait and see that one!

We got home from church later, as is the usual thing.  Mommy made us all a nice lunch, and Madison was doing her piano, and studying too.  We went over to the library to return a few books, and the plan was to pick up a book from the library that was supposedly on campus and checked out for us... but it wasn't there.  Someone requested that very book from another branch, while we requested the same book, and it was being shipped from still another branch.  So rather than get us our book that was right there, that version was being shipped elsewhere.  And the one we wanted was being shipped from another branch.  It was odd, but it is what it is, and we can wait another day or two before starting the next book in our "Thrawn" series.  I still can't believe we're reading another "Thrawn" book.  I have such geeks in my family!

We said our prayers tonight, praying for those who are sick.  The virus is getting more prevalent in the country, but even beyond that there are several that we know who are dealing with cancer, including Ba-Ba.  The news is mixed for him:  the cancer is gone from his esophagus and stomach, completely wiped away.  But there are spots in his lungs, and that is the concern that we now have to pray about.  He's not out of the woods yet, and we're praying.

We watched a few things tonight, our usual episodes.  And then it was off to bed early again.  Sundays can be exhausting in a way.  You want to take a long Sunday nap, but we didn't do that today, instead opting to get some rest early tonight.  We said our prayers and shared kisses and zerberts.  It was a good day.
