Here's a rare photo, one with both siblings and parents in it. It's great to get the family together, even in these unusual times.
We found out today that Daddy will be working from home mostly next week. The President declared a national emergency, and there's a you can see a bit of "we're all in this together" online. It's just not like a snow day though - we're not out there in large scale social situations. We're just talking online, and staying at home. And that's not too bad, if we have each other.
It is inevitable that the virus will spread, but this strategy embraced by the President's administration and pretty much everyone else is something that will hopefully work.
It's called "Flattening the Curve," and the idea is that rather than everyone have the virus all at the same time, instead it will be spread out to a more manageable amount of people over a slightly longer time. This places less burden on the medical community, while giving them a better ability to handle the influx of patients that will inevitably happen. And all this is possible if large scale events like baseball games, church, and concerts are cancelled, or at least postponed. This is happening left and right, and in support of all this, our church is cancelling services and allowing us to work from home the next week or so.
Still, we'll be getting things done. Daddy is going to be writing and creating, and we'll be brainstorming ideas for the future. It's going to be a unique time, and we'll be staying positive.
Today we were largely at the house, but we did drive around the area for a bit, once again helping Nana and Ba-Ba look around for some new housing possibilities. It was just a good drive, exploring some areas down Jot-Em-Down Road and Dawsonville Highway.
We had ourselves some dang quesadillas for dinner, a reference to Napoleon Dynamite there, now that Madison is familiar with the classic movie. There has been a resurgence of Napoleon Dynamite quotes here, mostly from the grown-ups. Madison is trying hard to keep up!
Tonight we all gathered around the couch, and revisited the first Iron Man movie, which we first saw about a month before we went to China to get Madison. It's been a while! We sat down and watched that, and then we saw the "Clone Wars" episode that came out, the one that shows a happy ending for the character "Echo," or at least one that shows he made it through alive after all.
We read from "Thrawn" tonight, and finished up our "Northern Lights" devotional as well, and then said our prayers. Those prayers certainly have a bit more urgency as of late. Tonight, we've got six people sleeping in the house, the family together and doing fine. It's the start of a few weeks where we'll have more opportunities to be together, so that's a blessing. There are spots of good news in all of this. The economic impact is concerning, but there's a feeling that we can get through this together... just with a bit of "socially distancing."
