This weekend, it's Daylight Savings Time, which means spring forward - we lose one hour of rain. Yes, it was raining again today. It still is now. In fact, tonight later on, there were thunderstorms roaring across the Southeast, and tornadoes in Nashville. The rain has been punishing, and isn't quite through with us yet.
Today we had piano class, which we drove to in the rain. Madison has selected a very lovely song to play for the piano recital later on this spring, one that she's been doing pretty well with as of late. We'll be hearing a lot from that song over the coming weeks, but it's a nice song and we don't mind that at all. And again, the sound of a piano being played, even with practice, can be a very nice soundtrack to our housework.
Mommy and Daddy were doing a bit of shopping today, filling up our reserves, so to speak. We spent a lot, but we're buying things ahead of time, including extra medicine and cans of food. It's good to be prepared, and although we're not paranoid, here we are already with at least two cases of the COVID-19 virus, the corona virus, in Georgia. The governor made an announcement about this tonight, and it seems like a fairly obvious thing that would happen eventually given that we have a major airport in Atlanta. The passengers were not from China, but in fact visiting Italy. So hopefully that will dilute a bit of the "enthusiasm" people have about the source of all this. It's been in the media quite a bit, even though previous viruses have been worse in regards to loss of life and spreading. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that this is an election year, or perhaps it has more to do with social media. Or perhaps it is more serious. Whatever the future holds, we're gathering up supplies and getting ready to hunker down, should that be the case. Or, at least we'll have certain supplies if there happens to be a rush on any one particular thing. Hand sanitizer... that's been a popular item. If anything, we've learned as a nation that we really need to clean our hands frequently. That's been drilled into us quite a bit!
Changing the topic, tonight - while it was raining - we watched some of our television shows. We also had ice cream. But one of Madison's assignments was the reason the ice cream was brought out: she had to take a picture of food. And what better food to take a picture of than ice cream!?
So Mommy made these delicious ice cream sundaes, with Madison hovering over them taking photographs from different angles. It was one of those deals where we were all super anxious for her to be done, so we can eat up that tasty ice cream!
We prayed tonight for those fighting cancer, and those fighting this new virus. We prayed for those dealing with tragedy. There are a lot of people to pray for lately. But we prayed for a good night's rest as well, and soon that's exactly what we got afterwards, after reading together, tucking in, zerberts, kisses, and a diving under the warm blankets...
