Keep Fighting

We saw the epic episode of "Ahsoka" tonight, and suddenly Tuesday night has become "must-see-tv" for a lot of us.  We spend the next day just going on and on about "that episode last night," which is fun to talk about at the office.  A lot of the others were excited.  Yeah, we had a night off, so we watched "Hotel Transylvania 3," which is so much fun, and then "Ahsoka," which just kept pouring cement down on Dave Filoni's legacy with Star Wars.  Again, we've been there since day one, actually going to the theater to see the first "Clone Wars" movie in 2008, so we got to see Anakin and "Snips" back then when they first met, and of course tonight we got to see a reunion of sorts.  It was a good episode!

We spent a good time today with the Christmas play details, going through the audition performances and narrowing down roles.  We had around 100 people audition, and we'll see some of them again for callbacks on Wednesday night.  I was all over the place today with things being done, including even an advertisement I made up super quickly for Nerdo for his car dealership.  He's got John Smoltz coming to their grand opening.  Back a few months ago, I wrote a few radio advertisements for him, and sure enough, the hall of fame pitcher actually read some of my material in commercials that were played all summer.  We'd hear them from time to time as we were listening to various Braves games.  Speaking of the Braves, they've made it to the playoffs and are now super close to getting the National League East title - all it takes is one more win over the Phillies, who they have been conveniently playing.  It's an amazing team this year, offensively.  We have the leading candidate for MVP and the MLB home run leader on the same team, but then so many other weapons in the baseball arsenal.  It's been a lot of fun to watch this summer.

Maddie continued her studies today with all her classes, and there's not much to report about the Crucible or ceramics, or even pre-calculus, although she said she did well on a quiz in that class.  In history, she's somewhere after the Revolutionary War, probably right before the Constitution was written or George Washington was inaugurated.  There's a lot to talk about in that time period for sure.

Today was picture day, and that's an ordinary event for all students, but someone said something to Maddie that was jarring:  this was the last day of regular school pictures that she'll ever have.  Next year is time for senior pictures, of course, and we hadn't thought of that.  This was the last regular school picture she'll do, and therefore there was suddenly a bit of sentimentality to the it all.  She dressed nicely today, and I'm sure the picture will come out well, as she's just naturally photogenic!

I had extremely high blood pressure tonight, at least for me.  It was scary.  I think it's related to the fact that I don't have a treadmill anymore - the old one wore out.  So I ordered a new one, and it'll arrive in a few Fridays, a new addition to routine again.  Also, I need to drink more water.  But exercising the heart is the big deal for me, so I'm anxious to get walking again.  This new treadmill has a big screen on it, and I'm excited about going on all kinds of new adventures while not actually traveling anywhere.  We cleared an area in the basement, so we should be good to go as soon as we assemble it all.  A line from tonight's episode stuck with me about our need to keep fighting, and that's what I intend to do.

So yeah, I was tired tonight.  We read from our book, "The Wee Free Men," and got some well-needed rest.
