Casting Footprints

Maddie had taekwondo tonight, or at least leadership class.  I was shopping while she was helping instruct, and then working with her bo staff somewhat.  Several of the students were getting back into he swing of things, as they'd missed a few classes due to Camp FCY.

Earlier today, Maddie had a great time in forensics class.  Lately, she's been casting footprints and making fingerprints, and studying shattered glass too.  But the hands-on kind of science has been interesting and fun to do, and I think the teacher is making it fun too.  Now she can cast a Big Foot print!  That is, I suppose, only if he's committed some heinous crime.  Anyway, school is going right along.  She's doing well - she got another A on a history test, and seems to be cruising along a little easier than she was last year, which was a lot more work.  Next Friday she's hoping to go to a football game, and oh yeah, she's got her Beta Club fees due, which I have to remember to take care soon.  Anyway, life moves on in school, and yeah, here we are already as a junior in high school.  Her footsteps are ordered of the Lord, even those that are being cast afterwards.

Oh, and speaking of casting, we're setting up Christmas auditions already, if you can believe that.  Yes, this Sunday we'll be auditioning for parts for a play that I spent a good part of the morning working on with Camille, Dawn, and Mom too. It's going to be a lot of work doing two simultaneous productions in December - one on the third, and one two weeks later.  I'm not sure how that's all going to work, but we'll do our best.

Tonight Maddie had her small group again online, which just keeps chugging along.  We watched another episode of "Monk" after that, per Maddie's request.  The forensics class and the footprints were a bit of foreshadowing, as tonight's episode featured some bare footprints as part of the evidence of the crime.  We had time for just one episode, as it was later tonight - but we read after that, finishing up "The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents," which is a title I'm happy not to have to type out too many more times.  The consensus was that this was a very good book.  The story was just so good from start to finish, and the characters were ...well, amazing.  It was certainly a lot darker than the movie, of course.  I've read this book three times now, and Maddie just heard it for the first time, having just watched the movie recently.  Anyway, we liked it, and so much that we might move on to "The Wee Free Men" next, starting up the Tiffany Aching series.  We'll see!

After reading to Maddie and the plush entourage, it was time to drag everyone down to Maddie's room.  We said our prayers and all of us got tucked in.  Pretty tired today, but the weather is looking really nice soon with temperatures coming down and fall on its way.  Time for some sleep...
