We had a new visitor this morning at our feeder - a grosbeak. We think it could be a female rose-breasted grosbeak... or perhaps it's another kind of grosbeak. Regardless of the type, it's clearly a female, mainly because it just looks like an oversized, fat sparrow. If you saw the male version of this bird, you'd know it, as the male version is dramatically different and colorful. Meanwhile, this female bird again gets a bad rap, just an ordinary brown bird with none of the beautiful plumage.
Anyway, it was a beautiful day, but it was one we had to do a lot of work for in order to set things up for tomorrow's service. We're starting a new series, revisiting "The Quest" again, and there are students, there's Indiana Jones, there's a villain or two, there's a strange woman with a hidden artifact. Eleven costumes, actually. We were at the church for a bit getting music tracks together, things I was downloading from the LEGO Indiana Jones game that will be perfect. We got the visuals together, and of course Mom got the costumes all worked out. We went over to the thrift store to pick up some more items, and a few other things too. Of course I got some more vinyl records too, always a plus!
It's October! That means just thirty days to go with pumpkins, candy, costumes, and creepy movies. Tonight's was "Hotel Transylvania," which is one of our favorites! We got the candy corn in a dish, and for some reason, the amount of candy corn in that dish keeps shrinking dramatically. Oh, and speaking of seasonally themed items, I've won a major award! Yes, this is the second prize I've won in my life, the first one being a seven inch tall French Hen. Also a coveted prize. But this other one is four times as much - four small plastic sculptures of the Monster Cereal gang, Fruit Brute, Count Chocula, Frankenberry and Booberry. I've been entering this contest daily, and there were something like 100,000 prizes to give out, so odds were theoretically in my favor. Still, it was me so there was room for doubt. Anyway, I just learned they're going to mail me my plastic Monsters, so let the celebration begin!
Okay, so it's not that big of a deal. But still! Anyway, we read tonight, and we said our prayers too. Got to get to bed early tonight, because we're setting those alarms for church tomorrow!
