We weren't dressed up as the Mad Hatter or Alice or anything, although I did have my old KidPak Mad Hatter shirt on from when we did that series so long ago. It was a nice occasion, and afterwards we had the 1999 version of "Alice in Wonderland" playing on the television, which is longer but frequently pretty close to the book's more peculiar characters. The songs are catchy too!
It was a busy day today, as there was a lot of work towards this weekend. This week I volunteered to go to an elementary school for a geology class. I went there to speak to about four classes, bringing my father's rock samples along with some slides I made to add a little fun to the entire thing. It went very well, although it was a good bit of work to set up. But it turned out great, and the kids had a good time.
We were doing a lot of writing and creation for this weekend and beyond - we've finally settled on a name for our Narnia series, "The Kingdom Chronicles." We also finalized the booklet for "The Voyage." We have all kinds of things going on, including the new skit this weekend that I'm really excited about, one where Indiana Jones frightens off a few thugs with the snap of his bullwhip. There's a lot of movement and action in this skit, and it really demonstrates the bottom line too - it should be fun!
Anyway, Maddie is doing well in school. She got a great grade on her algebra test, although she does not like the class that much. Honestly, you'd have to be a very particular kind of person to enjoy algebra. Today's theme for Homecoming Week was "Throwback Thursday," where you can put on an outfit that reflects some time in previous history. Maddie went with the look of Rosie the Riveter today, and she looked ready to take on anything!
It was a good day. A busy one, but a good one! Tonight we read from our book about Nicholas Benedict's search for treasure, one he's getting closer to. We said our prayers, and then it was time for some sleep. Off to Wonderland!
