October is coming to an end... so here's a dramatic story about Maddie dropping her kamas. Read on at your own peril!
Maddie's pov:
So I helped out with the intermediate class tonight at my taekwondo place. It went as usual where I would go around and help them with small minor things like stances and hand position. After that was leadership, as I just so casually drop my kama (weapon) as Mr.Cornett was watching lol. It ended, and we went home. Right afterwards was small groups so Ms.Lauren was hosting and Lily was there.
It's warm outside. And dry. We've actually had unseasonably warm weather, but it's so perfect at night where we can just sit out there on the back deck watching the leaves drift down onto the back yard. The leaves are swirling around, dancing about in swirls here or there, or falling like snow as we look out the back window. They're certainly piling up, and we'll have to do something about that soon enough. It's a big project getting out there with the leaf blower, and sometimes it feels like it is a pointless task, as there are still plenty more leaves up there on the trees, each one ready to come down shortly afterwards. But we have to be careful about letting them pile up. For one thing, the lack of water has forced all the creatures upwards into back yards, looking for water and other food. Certain slithery reptiles have been spotted in our back yard, and caution is needed when lifting potted plants and other items. Oh, speaking of which, the fairy garden is now put away for the winter, as are all our garden gnomes. The leaves were completely covering them up, the poor things submerged, crying out for some leaf lifeguard to come and save them.
As for the birds, they are more frequent at our feeder now, including a bluebird family of six. We have different types of food up there, specialized for different birds. The bluebirds like one thing, and the cardinals love another. The squirrels like the mealworms there, and Mom has noticed one squirrel that looks ready to have some baby squirrels. You can hear the movement of all the squirrels and chipmunks loudly as they tromp through the leaves - it sounds bigger than it really is.
It's a quiet day. We're getting ready for a new series, and all kinds of new things at the office. We're hanging in there. Tonight we read, and we said our prayers... and were off to sleep.
