This year the Broncos are doing much better. Last year of course they didn't have seniors, and last year was their very first year of existence. So there were growing pains. The homecoming game last year was a good one though, where the Broncos defeated their opponent 49-0. This year, however, was a challenge because they were facing Cherokee Bluff, the team that defeated them last year 59-0. So there was definitely a back story on this match-up, because there was revenge on the mind of the Broncos, plus the backdrop of the special Homecoming Game. Things were tied up at the half, and that tells you the mindset of the game - it was a tough defensive battle. But things broke in the third quarter as the opponent scored a touchdown and extra point, making it 7-0. The Broncos didn't let that get to them though, as they struck back and scored to tie the game up.
And that's when something amazing happened. The Broncos scored again! The crowd went crazy, as East Forsyth showed everyone what they were made of, and the score was suddenly 14-7. And that's the way it would stay until the end of the game, when as you could imagine there was much celebration! Last year's humiliating loss was avenged, and on Homecoming weekend as well!
It was a good day today, with beautiful weather for this sort of thing. Tomorrow is the Homecoming Dance, and of course other things as well. We're setting up for a small party at the house before the dance, but we also watched some things. I was putting the finishing touches on the script, sound effects and props for Sunday, which promises to be pretty exciting. We're definitely in an Indiana Jones story now!
We read tonight, we prayed tonight, and then... it was time to get some sleep!
