We've had a rain shortage lately, but we've provided some water for our guests to the back porch. Until now they've had just the one dish with water in it, as well as the bases of a few larger plants on the deck. But now we've gotten something pretty neat that arrived in the mail on our deck: a bird bath, one equipped with a solar fountain. We assembled it pretty much immediately when it arrived, and it was simple to put together. We filled it with water, small translucent rocks, and the solar disc and suddenly... the fountain was working perfectly!
It's been a sick day today for me, although Maddie was off to school and she's been just fine. Actually, the whole family has been okay, and that's been good to know. I was on the back porch a good bit, enjoying the visitors there, also checking to see if any would be coming to the bird bath. We had a few visitors to the new bird bath, including a thirsty blue jay. The blue bird family kept coming by - we've enjoyed watching them visit over time, all four babies coming to rail with their mouths open, wanting to get fed. Mom is starting to help them eat on their own, turning her head away and making the babies look downward at the source of food, eating it on their own. It's a family of six! And they're comfortable coming right up with us sitting nearby. The blue jays, robins, chickadees seem to be okay with us too. It's nice back there. And it's going to be nicer with Mom adding a bit of decor to the back yard area, a new garden section that will be themed to "Alice in Wonderland." Little teapots and roses are there now, and soon other items will be there too.
Maddie had FCY tonight, and we took her there. She had a great time, and it was a good service too. Maddie enjoys hanging with her friends there, staying a little later after hours, leaving a little later. I let her stick around and enjoy the company, although we do have to get back in order to get to bed earlier. Tomorrow's a school morning again.
We read tonight, of course, and then we prayed. I have to get to sleep early tonight though, or at least try to. Good night!
