Awards Night

Maddie attended an awards ceremony tonight, one set up to honor teachers and students involved with the East Forsyth High School.  The idea was to make it something like the Academy Awards for students, which basically gave everyone a chance to dress up nicely.

Maddie's been looking forward to tonight all week, for a chance to dress up and hang out with friends.  She looked great, having owned this dress for some time now without actually getting  change to wear it too many times.  She put it on this afternoon, and had me out there with her, taking a few photos for posterity.  She looks beautiful, of course.

The evening was short-lived, but really nice.  Maddie was super glad she went.  The rest of the day was a somewhat eventful day:  the last day of ninth grade, essentially.  Next week is a day where she comes in to take a test on Wednesday.  But today was the last full day of classes and hanging out with friends at school.  The yearbooks were passed out today, so there were opportunities to sign books and spend time together as the last hours of the school year wrap up.

It was a good day.  I was writing for this weekend, planning for Summer Xtreme too.  Trying to get healthy again.  This was just a respiratory infection that's been going on, and it sort of took me out this week with the coughing and so on.  We did have a nice time sitting on the deck.  I'm watering all the plants in the back yard, including those freshly planted.  Mom's garden is looking nice back there in the back yard.

Tonight we sat and watched another episode of "The Mysterious Benedict Society," and of course we read from that same book at bedtime.  We prayed, and we went to bed shortly after that.  We've got taekwondo practice again tomorrow, although not until later in the morning so we can sleep in somewhat.  That'll be nice!
