Homecoming Dance

Tonight was the Homecoming Dance, and in fact it was Maddie's first Homecoming Dance, and come to think of it, actually the first Homecoming Dance ever at East Forsyth High School.  Before Maddie and her friends went off to the dance itself, they came over to the house to have a little party beforehand.  Mom set up drinks and snacks on a table on the back deck.

We even hung Christmas lights on the canopy there on the back deck, plus adding a few little decorations too.

And although we didn't use it tonight, we actually got a good bit of work done on the fire pit, filling the lava rocks and adding mulch around some plants that Mom put in.

When everyone arrived at the house, we took quite a few pictures on the front porch, which I had arranged a few pumpkins on with some decorations.  It made for some nice pictures.

I can't believe she went for the Black Widow pose!

And here's one shot from the back deck just before we left for the dance.

The kids had a great time tonight.  I picked up Maddie around 10pm from the school, and she was quite glad she went.  There were photo ops, music and dancing, but it was just nice to hang around with friends at the school.  Here are some pictures taken with Maddie's camera at the actual event itself.

She said she really enjoyed talking with everyone on the back deck there, and the atmosphere was pleasant.  And the dance itself was super fun, with a whole lot of laughs and fun all night.

The rest of our day was a blur.  She had taekwondo, of course, Team Edge practice in the afternoon.  I was over at the botanical gardens checking on Autumn Beauty to see how she did after so many heavy downpours all week long.  She's fine.  I got a few pictures of a hummingbird moth that was super fascinating to me - I've not seen one before, so I was really impressed by this one.

Tonight, the rest of us were watching "Hocus Pocus" while waiting for Maddie's text to come pick her up. We got home, and we got to bed late, of course.  But we still made time to read, and to pray.  Maddie was saying how thankful she was for such a wonderful night.  And it certainly was a wonderful night for her!
