First East Forsyth High School Homecoming Game

Tonight we were at the Homecoming Football game, the first one ever for East Forsyth High School.  The event started out with a whole lot of rain, this tiny dot of rain on the map that happened to be heavy and directly over our heads.  Wow, it was quite a downpour!  The National Anthem was playing, and there was hardly anyone there in the stands, because the kind of rain that was coming down made even having an umbrella pointless.  Maddie was under the stands, then in a car with a friend and her mom.  About five minutes into that first quarter, the rain let up some, and everyone started coming into the stands once more, including Maddie and her friend.

As for the game itself, it was another blow-out.  But the great thing is that it was our team that did all the scoring!

It was nice to be on the winning side of things.  I'm sure the guys on the team were loving it.  Here are a few picture highlights from the game.

Pouring rain!

Not many people here at the start of the game.

The players are starting to take to the field.

Here come the Broncos!

Wow, it was really coming down!  Our shoes were soaked.

Play started out in the rain, with the Broncos driving the ball down the field.

It's clearing up, the rain coming down, but you can see the moon in the sky.

Number 13 carries the ball early in the game.

The rain eased up, although the ball was pretty slick, apparently.  There were a number of fumbles!

Looking back for a long pass.

One of our players gets the sack.

Crazy play early on - the opposition was driven back to the end zone, and went for the punt.  But we blocked the punt and the ball went straight up... and straight down.  It bounced into the end zone, and we jumped on top of it for the second touch down.  Not a traditional play, but it worked out!

Players celebrate a interception.  We got a few of these in the game!

At the end of the second quarter - with just 9.8 seconds to go, we scored again, leaving the half with a score of 27-0.

The presentation went on a little long, as the football players were coming out.  The band was playing "Go the Distance" for about twelve minutes straight!

Maddie and her friend enjoying the game.

Number eleven catches the kick-off at the start of the second half...

...and finds a clearing...

...and makes it all the way to the end zone!

The final score for the game.

The big celebration afterwards!

Game night started out a little wet, but it turned out super fun for the home team.  We were soaked though!  We turned the heater on in the car for the ride home, and we got home pretty late.  We were ready to get to sleep pretty quick, after reading and bed time prayers.
