You can see the many pumpkins we have in our collection now, some from Burt's, others from Bradley's, some from Wal-Mart, and some from Aldi's. We're ready for our pumpkin carving party! Speaking of which, how do you fix a broken pumpkin? With a pumpkin patch!
Our little pumpkin did not have piano practice tonight, as Hall County had their fall break this week. Maddie has not had piano in three weeks now.
She had homework tonight, so Mom and I continued our seasonal movie festival with “Hotel Transylvania,” although Maddie got to watch a little towards the end. I love this movie. We watched a few other shorts, as we’ve been doing lately, just cramming in all these different themed shows and movies. It’s been super fun.
I got home early, although I needed to get a gallon of milk and went out for a quick trip, only to discover that my first two destinations did not have any milk at all. Fortunately, my third destination did. Still, it was kind of odd. I hope there’s not a milk shortage on top of everything else. Currently, there are all kinds of shortages, and there are prices rising and lots of chatter about the economy. It’s an unusual time.
I finished up December’s KidPak booklets today – we’re returning to “A Christmas Carol,” which I don’t mind in the least. It’s such a rich and wonderful story, and I love any excuse to watch all these different movie versions of it. We loved watching the play at the Alliance Theater too. Hopefully we can present something great for the kids this year. I believe we’ve done this series four times in the past over the past 18 years, but we watch the same Christmas movies each year, so I don’t think anyone will mind.
We have at least three chipmunks on our property, scurrying around the front and back yard, and that makes all of us happy for some reason. I can’t explain that, but we were at the front door this morning, and there was one at the window looking at us, staring us down!
Tonight we were reading before bedtime, and we’re approaching the end of the Dark Passage of the Kingdom Keepers, where things are starting to turn a bit darker certainly. Maddie is still into the book series very much. We start out reading each chapter by adding the word “exploded” wherever possible in the first sentence though. For example, “Finn Whitman jumped the railing, and turned to face Maleficent, who exploded.” Maddie will insert that, or perhaps I will, but usually it’s in the first sentence and everyone has a good laugh before we move on to the actual reading. It’s actually kind of funny when the word “exploded” actually shows up in the chapter somewhere.
We said our prayers tonight, and we were off to sleep afterwards fairly quickly. Lots going on in the world right now, and all sorts of discontent. But we said our prayers, and we’re thankful for all we have and where we are. We’re good.
