The Scream Team

I love these old Disney Channel movies.  Tonight we were watching "The Scream Team," because none of us had seen it before.  It's a seasonal movie we found and thought, "Why not?"  Of course you lower the bar quite a bit with some of these movies, and with that said, it was a fun seasonal movie to watch tonight.  We've got a list of these, and thanks to the streaming services we can catch episodes and old movies like this that we've never seen before.

We had a busy day today.  Maddie was at school, of course.  But we were at the dentist in Alpharetta, first thing, getting a check-up for Nana, who did well.  Afterwards, we stopped by in Cumming to get some lava rocks for the fire pit, and we got something to eat at the Cracker Barrel too.  Restaurants are struggling right now because not enough people want to work.  The end result is slower service, or in some cases lesser quality service.  We had to wait a good bit for our food because the back-up chef was the only one in the kitchen and there was one waitress for a larger section of the restaurant at lunch time.  This was in Alpharetta too, where there are presumably more people.  It's just that less of them want to work.  The rotating billboard near Gainesville's square is an LED screen that gives you I think four images that change every ten seconds or so.  Three of them are advertising for jobs somewhere, "NOW HIRING."  You see those signs all over the place - "NOW HIRING."  And it's been like that for a while now.  But there's just not enough people that want to work.  So stores and restaurants are opening up with limited hours now, and it's just unfortunate.  Meanwhile, gas prices are going up, as are the prices of all of our goods we're heading out to buy.  We'll see how much people want to invest in Christmas this year, as that's the big money-maker for a lot of these businesses.

Speaking of Christmas, we were at the thrift shop for a bit with Nana, and yeah, I got some new and unique Christmas music, adding to our Christmas music tally.  We've gotten a few new ones this year.

Also Christmas-related:  Mom got some ornaments in the mail, and she spent a good deal of time using this hardening clay to create in the oven some heart-shaped ornaments that she intends to paint.  These, along with the ribbon she got today, will all work together really well for our Christmas tree idea at the gardens. She's excited about doing that this year.

It rained a lot today.  And it's supposed to do that through the week too.  Tonight we went to taekwondo again, and a few of Maddie's friends got black belts tonight.  In fact, there will be more getting black belts tomorrow night, some of her fellow students that have been working hard these last few years to get to this point.  She'll see them all in the black belt class soon enough, and now there will be more joining her at the black belt ceremony in December.

We were watching a few seasonal things tonight, although Maddie had some homework to do.  I finished up the first RL Stine book today - it wasn't that long, but it was just a busy time.  Anyway, it was a fun book, and now I'm off to reading the next "living dummy" story, just for fun.  But tonight's reading at bedtime was from the Kingdom Keepers, of course, as we're deep into this sixth book of the series.  We said our prayers after that, and got to sleep earlier this week.  It's a big week for Maddie at school, at least a more fun one with Homecoming activities and themes.  She's having fun choosing her themed outfits this week.
