Daylight Saving Time

Sheer bliss has found us out!  This should be a national holiday, a day we celebrate sleep and become time travelers!  During the wee hours of the night, we zoom back in time one hour - all for the purpose of getting daylight again in our morning, and also getting that one hour of extra sleep.

We enjoyed it today, and mightily!  We were well-rested, and ready to tackle our morning at KidPak. We certainly needed the rest, as it was "one of those mornings" where various challenges popped up, related to computers, printers, cutting machines, balloons, discilinary issues and so forth.  However, the mornign was still a great success, as everything that happened in the auditorium wen tlike clock-work.  One of the children this morning wanted to know how to "get saved," and we had staff at the ready - and that is what it is all about.

Our LEGO drama continues, one Madison actually stood behind Daddy yesterdray as he was writing.  She likes the part where one character screams out, "Hey, blockhead!"  This may because she just saw Charlie Brown recently.  We had a bit of fun on stage with our LEGO characters today, and the kids are into the ongoing series.

Meanwhile, there are still some auditions going on for "Holly."  Daddy can't wait to share the graphic they come up with for this.  Hopefully that will be soon.  Right now, the church as a whole is busy pushing an entirely different campaign:  "Made for More."

This is a church push to get more people to come, to get more people out there advertising for the church.  We were 'made for more.'  There are bumper stickers and coffee mugs with this logo on it - it's that sort of campaign.  Daddy is slightly involved there, having helped conceive some creative ideas, but the focus will honestly be Christmas for a bit.  Of course, KidPak must not suffer in the least, so that will be keeping us busy as well.

Daddy helped a little with KidPak's Hispanic service, but soon we were all ready to go home.  It was a chilly day today, so we had that wonderful fire in the fireplace this afternoon and evening.  We did a significant amount of piano practice, and Madison even started the Christmas season herself by writing her yearly letter to Santa.  Unlike last year, there are plenty of items to select on the list!  Mommy had a hand in helping write that letter, which is a decent-sized grocery list, actually.  One new item that Daddy was delighted to see on the list is the game Mouse Trap, which I hope we can find.  So random, but Madison loves board games.  She even wants a version of Sorry!  I believe there is a Toy Story version of that game somewhere, one we'll have to look up shortly.

Yes, Christmas season is upon us.  But it is November still, and there is the matter of Thanksgiving to contend with.  That said, we did a bit of Thanksgiving stuff today as well - starting with the viewing of the movie "Free Birds."  This movie we will be showing at KidPak this upcoming Friday night, and our family needed to preview it to make sure it was okay to show.  It was indeed - Madison enjoyed it, along with some popcorn of course.

Continuing the theme, Madison heard a bit of a Thanksgiving story that Daddy had written some time ago.  It was a devotional to be read before bed each night, and to my delight, Madison really enjoyed hearing it.  We always wondered what would happen in "The Nightmare Before Christmas" if someone had gone through the door shaped like a Thanksgiving Turkey, and this story sort of addresses that.  Our main character winds up in Thanksgiving Town, and goes from there.  It was fun to read again.

We have a few other stories to read this month, as we switch out the Halloween books to Thanksgiving books.  The great thing about this one is the devotional aspect of it, which makes it fun to read, and at the same time a bit educational about things found in the Bible.

We went to bed early tonight.  Well, that's Daylight Saving Time for you.  But that extra hour of sleep will still feel good tomorrow morning - no arguing about that!
