Tonight we did a few things down in Buford, first of all stopping at a Men's Warehouse there to help a friend get a new jacket and pants for the upcoming play. The salesperson there was hysterical, although probably not in a way that Men's Warehouse would like. We strongly suspect he was on some serious pain medication, because he was frequently bending over to lean on things while making unusual comments about his job that made you sort of wonder what was going on. Nevertheless, we got the suit, and we got a fun picture of Madison in the process. You can see her above in the mirror world, checking out her endless reflections. You can see Daddy as well, snapping the photo with the iPad. Yes, I brought it along in there - just in case we wanted to snap a photo of our friend in the suit. We did not - we're moving forward with that. I'll have to come back, but not this Friday - it's Black Friday and there's no way I'm going near a mall that day. While out, we did one other thing...
Yeah, there he is. This is the best time to come see Santa. We actually usually come a week earlier, but our schedule limited us, so we made it tonight. And it is so worth it to come earlier, for a couple reasons. The biggest reason of all is the lack of a crowd. This means your child can spend more time with Santa, which is pretty cool. Madison had a pretty lengthy conversation with Santa, letting him know that she's been good, and letting him know what kinds of things she was wanting for Christmas. She also wrote all of these things down in a rough draft, and then a final paper. She was quite proficient, with perfect handwriting so that there is no confusion about anything. Hopefully she'll be seeing some of those items for Christmas - she has in fact been good!
We did pose for a picture, and we got it on a CD. But we'll be posting that later, a little closer to Christmas.
We got home tonight, and we've been watching some short Christmas movies lately. Those half-hour specials are just perfect for this sort of night. For example, "Merry Madagascar." This one is pretty funny. It cracks me up still, and it was good to catch up with our penguin friends once more - especially because we'll be seeing them on the big screen next week for Thanksgiving.
We're still reading our book, by the way. It's a longer one for Madison, but she's still listening quite intently. We say our prayers after brushing teeth and flossing, and then it is story time. Tomorrow we don't have to wake up so early, so it was a later night tonight.
Next week, Nana and Ba-Ba are coming up from Florida. This is great news, as we'll get to spend some time with them. The weather is supposed to turn pretty chilly. In fact, it's supposed to be pretty stormy on Sunday as they are driving up. Maybe they'll postpone their trip up by one day - we'll see. But we will get to see them again, and this time for a more extended visit. This will be great for Madison, who hasn't seen them much in the past few months.
Meanwhile, things are lining up for Thanksgiving. Mommy got this huge turkey, and Madison was looking at it and saying, "Whoa." It barely fits in the refrigerator. It's twenty-one pounds, I believe, probably the largest turkey we've ever gotten for the holiday. But we're seeing more relatives over here - twelve or thirteen. It'll be a pretty big gathering, and one mighty large family portrait.
