Dentists and Crossword Puzzles

For some reason, Madison loves this little rocking horse.  Of course, she's grown up quite a bit since she first hopped onto it.  This is in the waiting room of the dentist's office, which as you can see has a nice Christmas tree up already.  It's nice to see someone else has their Christmas tree up as well.

We put our second tree up today as well, and we're actually going to go for Madison's tree later.  And yes, there's a fourth tree, believe it or not.  We got these other ones from Goodwill, but the primary tree we have was purchased over twelve years ago at a fancy schmancy shop down in Alpharetta.  We remember seeing "The Santa Clause 2" right after we bought the tree - it was a Christmassy sort of day.

But back to the dentist.  Here's Madison, with her dentist and dental assistant.

I went to high school with the dental assistant.  Her name is Julie, and she has a few Christmas trees up in her house as well, so we're not the only crazy ones out there.  It's just that it takes so much to put a tree up, she argues, that you might as well get the thing up a little earlier to enjoy it.  We agree entirely.  Now you're probably wondering about what Madison is doing here, of course.  I'll tell you:  she's laughing.

No, seriously:  she's about to have some coating put on a few baby teeth that won't be coming out for a while.  This is to help prevent the Cavity Creeps from doing their damage.  They'll be foiled again.

Here's Madison as Bane:  "Your punishment must be more severe!"  Of course, she doesn't look quite ready to break anyone's back.  In fact, she kind of likes that orange smell that's coming out from the mask there.  Of course, the gas that she's breathing in has one purpose:  to give her super strength.

No, really, it's there to help deaden things a bit.  Which is what we all need from time to time, don't we?  Imagine a world where all of us wear orange little masks like this, walking around like Bane, and talking like some sort of 60's James Bond villain.  "I'm the dentist's reckoning!"

Okay, moving on.  The title of this blog entry mentions crossword puzzles, and yes, Madison did her very first crossword puzzle today.  What took so long?  We don't know - we just hadn't thought of it before.  BUT... Mommy made one up for her today, using an online program that lets you insert your own words and clues.  Of course, we inserted her vocabulary words for the week, which are also spelling words.  She knows these words very much, and has no problem spelling them.  She's been doing great.

Speaking of which, in her art class - she had to disguise a turkey.  This is an annual tradition, as the children of Chestatee assist hundreds of turkeys by disguising them as anything but a turkey.  In Madison's case, she dressed hers as Elsa.  Yep, it's a turkey with ice powers.  Or... wait for it... a frozen turkey.
