It was Mommy and Daddy's nineteenth anniversary, so we celebrated with a visit to a fancy restaurant and a nice walk along the beach.
Of course, the restaurant was Chick-Fil-A in Cordelle. And the beach was the one in front of Nana and Ba-Ba's. We made the big drive south today, and left a little later. The end result was traffic in Atlanta and Henry County as usual, but otherwise, it was a fairly quick and smooth drive. We had a little rain on the way down, but it was a nice reunion with the grandparents in the early evening.
It's warm, but there's a sea breeze, and not as many people in front of the condo on this portion of the beach. You can look either way though, and see entry points where a lot of folks have come to sit in the sand and watch the waves. We have it made here, just having to go out on the balcony and overlook it all. Tomorrow, we'll be able to see the sunrise directly over the ocean. Tonight, we can walk along the shore and listen to the waves as we look for turtle nests and shells.
One thing this time though is a lack of shells. Usually, there are quite a few more. None of that this time, and on a more positive note, not the onslaught of jellies. One recent visit, there were quite a few jellyfish washed up on shore.
Nineteen years ago, we were about to go to another beach entirely, one in Hawaii. We were married on July 8, 2000, and the next day we flew off to Maui for a few weeks. It was unforgettable, all of it. Next year will be twenty years, so we'd better start planning something big for that, right?
For now though, we'll focus on the week ahead. There's a lot of rest and relaxation to plan out!
