Upward Falling

This afternoon we went through quite a few big thunderstorms to get to Friendship Road, but we made it and were glad to do so.  We were there early enough to get front row seats this time, front row and the middle.  The Venue there doesn't have the best seating for smaller height people, so that is what the fuss was all about, when it comes to front row seating.  Anyway, we were there and we highly enjoyed another performance from Praise in Motion.

This was a production called "Upward Falling," one that featured a very dramatic first act.  In fact, the first act was all one continuous story, and the second act was more or less several different routines set to various songs, all centered around the theme of "falling."

The first part of this, as mentioned before, was quite moving.  There was, through dance and music, a story of a person inflicted, possibly with cancer, but it could be anything for narrative purposes.  The point is all about the struggle, the prayers, the friends and support, and the spiritual battle.  It was honestly a difficult thing to see, drawing out emotions that we haven't felt in some time.  We've mentioned here before Mommy's battle with an advanced form of cancer, and the difficult journey we had to go on.  The strong emotions presented on stage were so relatable, and yet it was all communicated with dance and music.  It was done very well, with very gifted performers - their faces expressed so much emotion throughout.

It was a somber first act, but after intermission, things were more upbeat with many different routines set to different songs.

Anyway, it was good to be there.  We've been seeing them for something like twenty years now, and this ministry has never failed to be a moving experience.  Madison enjoyed it just as we did - and we even came home with a few souvenirs for her.  Some of the dancers made crafts that were for sale, and that would raise money for the dance company.  We bought a few items for Madison, including this keychain that she really liked.  We also got some snacks before heading back in for the second act.

The day was filled with tremendous thunderstorms, thick and grey clouds dumping torrents of rain that made it difficult to drive in.  Cracks and rumbles of thunder echoed throughout the afternoon, and even returned later on in the evening, spoiling some outdoor plans I'm sure.  Our plans inside were not spoiled, of course, and we had a nice time at the production.  We traveled through the rainstorms to get there, and through clear weather home where we were ready to do a few things.

Madison went straight to the piano, and probably did the best she's done so far practicing for her upcoming recital.  We have hope that things will be even better by next week, given the progress she's made thus far.  Meanwhile, Daddy was writing - and finishing - the third script for Summer Xtreme.  That is almost done, the weight is now 75% off my shoulders.  Just one more day to write for!

Today was May the Fourth Be With You, so tonight we watched three episodes of a Star Wars show we hadn't seen before.  At Christmas time, Madison got "LEGO Star Wars:  Droid Tales."  We've been watching a lot of other programs, but Star Wars Day seemed like the perfect day to watch some of these episodes.  They're so cruel to Jar Jar in these, but it's funny!  Actually, there were some great lines here or there in these, many spoofing plot points in the actual movies that we've all been making fun of for years.  We enjoyed it.

Tonight we continued reading from "Bridge to Neverland," and it was just so great watching Madison put things together, figuring out a clue where there was a replica of Big Ben in Florida.  She's enjoying the story now - actually we all are liking it a bit more.  The first 100 pages or so were somewhat slower, but we're actually in Disney World now within the story, and things are picking up quite a bit.

We said our prayers tonight, read from the devotional, and all the usual routines of nighttime.  It was a good day today, one that started out with a skillet breakfast and a good deal of sleeping in.  It was Star Wars Day, and also the Kentucky Derby Day as well.  But we'll probably always remember it for the very wonderful dance production we saw this afternoon.
