It was Madison's first visit to the studio with her purple belt, and she wore it well. Being so close to Memorial Day, and also because there was just a ceremony for a belt, there weren't as many students in the class today. But there were plenty to do combat with, and that's just what happened. Today the students sparred with combat sticks, which is a fun thing to see. Madison has to work on her side strike, a quick lightning strike where the arm rests over the chest, holding the stick - then suddenly strikes outward. Currently, she has a tendency to flail the stick about as if it were a lightsaber. This might be due to watching so many jedi moves!
Another thing that Madison was happy to pick up again were the nunchucks. The students were again practicing with their nunchucks, although not at each other. Madison really loves these, and couldn't wait to get back home and practice some of these moves, including a 360.
It's the second-to-last day of school, and as such, nothing happened of substance today. There were some grades, and some of them not so great. But Madison's average is fairly high, and can take a few hits. Still, we'll have to remember this next year when it is time to focus more on grades. The end of the year offers plenty of excitement and distractions, and I think those are our culprits.
We've been ordering inflatables for Summer Xtreme, and doing all kinds of work for that lately, including the finalization of our orders for handouts. They'll be great this year, including the fanny packs. I have no idea why these are popular again, but everyone is super excited about the fanny packs. The SX19 caps are going to be great too. We're looking forward to those, and the new water bottles as well. We've got some great handouts for the kids this year.
The tradition is to wear all the past Summer Xtreme t-shirts leading up to the big week, and Daddy has fifteen different ones, maybe more. It's great going through all of these - others have joined in and have been wearing theirs as well. We've got a long way to go with videos though. Booklets are doing well, as today was a big day for finishing writing and editing for our new booklets.
Madison has been bringing art home, including all her sketches in her booklet, and some water color projects as well. These have turned out well, and are nice to flip through. Also coming home are other assignments and graded papers, which are interesting to flip through. There are plenty of great grades in here, so it's encouraging to see her doing so well.
We said our prayers and read from our booklets again. Madison wanted to read from the "Neverland" devotional, and so we've started that one again. We're continuing with the Cobalt Squadron as well, which has started out pretty slow, but we're sticking with it. We said our prayers for our nation, for our friends who are sick, and for a good night's rest. There's a lot of work to do, but we're getting things done one bit at a time.
