It's Groundhog Day. Again.

It's Groundhog Day!  Again!  Here above is Maddie with Chuck, our groundhog friend that's been with us for something like twenty years now.  He's kind of a big deal around our house, and this is his big day!

We woke up early today to watch the festivities, starting out in Punxsutawney first of course, where a livestream had been ongoing and revelers were celebrating at Gobbler's Knob since something like 3am in the morning.  Believe it or not, this looks like a fun time.  But for now, we're content to join virtually, and it's great because it's all before Maddie heads off to school.  We watched Punxsutawney Phil make his prediction of an early spring, and then after that we tuned in to a lower quality presentation of the south's groundhog, General Beau.  I went to see him at the Yellow River Game Ranch many years ago, and now he's in Jackson, or some place further away like that.  The residence he stays in is the same, but the location is more distant.  There was a decent crowd there to see that groundhog too, although nothing like the spectacle in Punxsutawney.  Not even close.  Embarrassing, one might even say.  Punxsutawney is the real deal, a legend.  Sorry, General Beauregard.

As Maddie was leaving for school, we had the soundtrack playing, completely getting into the spirit of Groundhog Day.  It's a fun occasion!

Anyway, the day was fairly routine from there, with a lot of busy work in between.  I'm still coughing.  We're packing though, and dreaming of this little mini-vacation we've got coming up.  We were writing the skit for Sunday and finishing that up, and Maddie was at Chestatee, and then back to the school for more work with her relief and other classes.

Tonight, Chuck came with us to taekwondo - you can see him in the window watching all the students practice.  He got a lot of response there, as everyone loves to see the groundhog.  He was cheering them on, a celebrity on this big day.

Yes, we got home and of course we watched "Groundhog Day" again.  The three of us sat down after getting home from taekwondo, and were glad to relax and watch this classic movie.  It's one of the greatest movies ever made!  Maddie loves it too - and it's a good thing too:  it's mandatory viewing on this day!

We read tonight, and we said our prayers.  It was a decent day, and tomorrow will be a great one too.
