Buc-ee's Tour

On the road again!  We had a tour of Buc-ee's today, our first stop being the one near Perry.

That was a super quick stop.  We got some barbecue sandwiches, and Mom got some chicken salad that she really liked.  Plus we got some new t-shirts too!

It was a nice stop, because we had endured a long slog through the awful Henry County.  Yes, you'd think that there would be some adjustments made to this section of the interstate, but the Department of Inefficiency is hard at work making sure this portion of I-75 is as dreadful and frustrating as possible.  It is a vile portion of road.

Things were smooth after that for a good bit - we forgot how long of a drive this is though!  We were listening to some new Garrison Keillor archive recordings that were just so wonderful, and there was praise music to keep the energy up, and a Perry Stone message in there too.  Plus Star Wars mad-libs! We got to the Florida Visitor Center to visit with the bathrooms, the free orange juice, and pose with the dolphin!

Yes, Joey is clearly enjoying this trip too.  He's also enjoying the free Captain Citrus comic books that they were giving away there.  There are three now, and when he's done I can't wait to read them myself.  I love Captain Citrus!

So next stop was the Buc-ee's in Jacksonville, where we actually needed to stop for gas.  But yes, there were bathrooms and chocolate and drinks, and photo ops too:

We got to Titusville a little later, but it was a decent hotel.

Look, sundries!  That word has been a running joke at KidPak for a good bit.  Maddie forgot something at home, fulfilling our tradition of not remembering at least one thing.  We went over to the drug store, and while out on the road, Maddie and I stopped and took this picture to send back to our friend Tytus.

The lobby of the hotel has a few rocket parts in it and NASA exhibits, as we're right here at the Kennedy Space Center area.  After being here about an hour, Uncle George arrived with his new friend Thip, who we haven't met before.  They had spent the day at Daytona, which was crazy busy because the Daytona 500 is this weekend.  Driving by there myself earlier, I can say that I've never seen worse drivers on the highway collectively.  I mean, it's amazing there weren't any more accidents.

Anyway, we arrived safely, and we said our prayers, and we started to re-read the Kingdom Keepers Inheritance book, "Shimmer."  We just did a few chapters, and then after that it was time for bed.  It was along day driving, and everyone was ready for sleep.
