Helping Parents Night Out²

It was Parents Night Out² tonight, which basically means we had two going on at the same time.  Above, you can see Maddie after her event, or at least you can see her reflection after the event with some friends after they spent the night helping out at Edge Martial Arts.  Incidentally, this is the famous window that everyone keeps walking into when the front door is left open.  Anyway, she was there briefly for classes, and then there to help out the rest of the evening as parents left their kids with the studio to go off and have a date night.  It's February, so it's that season.  One thing Maddie got to try to night is her new kamas!  She had leadership class to start out with, so she got to practice with the new kamas that arrived yesterday.  They're customized and colorful, and we'll share a picture of them later.  The old ones actually broke at one place, so she was anxious to get a new set, which are kind of pricy.  She was swinging those around tonight, and although the handles and weight are a little different, she's gotten used to them and should be fine.

Meanwhile, the other Parents Night Out was at KidPak, where we had over four hundred kids for a few hours, rotating to different stations where there was a big slide, carnival games, a gaming truck, and other activities.  We also had a service tonight too, so it was a pretty big night.

It was a win on both accounts.  Kids had a great time, and of course parents had a good time too.  Some parents - when asked what they would do - said they were going home to take a nap!  We were glad to help give parents a break tonight, no matter where they were.  And it was great for Maddie to be of service, of course, helping out as she likes to do.  That's a good character trait!

The rest of the day was a normal Friday, with school and work.  Maddie was not at Chestatee, instead learning how to ace the "big interview."  She'll be interviewing for a job soon, and that sort of guidance is always useful.  The rest of her day was somewhat the same as always, with the usual fun in forensics, work on her art in ceramics, and the other classes she might not as enjoy as much.

It was a good day, and a quiet night when we got home.  We were all pretty tired from all the activity.  But we made time to read from "The Shepherd's Crown" a bit - we'll be done before our trip, I think.  And the plush entourage was there for prayers, getting tucked in, and a good night's rest afterwards.  Tomorrow we sleep in a tiny bit, and it'll be a fun day.
