The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

Tonight we went to see a Christmas play up at the Holly in Dahlonega in order to see a few friends performing on stage.  Our neighbor's children, Camille and Foster, were in "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever," and it was completely worth the drive up there to see their production.

Things aren't decorated in Dahlonega quite yet, but the Christmas spirit was hanging in the air rather heavily as we watched this movie.  It's a short play, but it's a wonderful one.  We watch this movie once a year, pretty much, so we knew many of the words and jokes, but it was great hearing the adults laugh here and there with us.

And the performances were great too.  It was a nice little getaway tonight, and I think we'll be going to see another play or two up at the Holly in the coming months, as the Gainesville productions aren't as interesting to us this year.

Mr. Rubber Eyeball agrees entirely.

We had Team Edge this morning, and this was the morning Maddie committed to going to tournament in the spring, a trip to Dallas to compete with the rest of her team.  Practice is now two hours long, and part of that is because they'll be performing first at the yearly Christmas event at the studio at Edgestravaganza.  I won't be able to go this year to that, so it'll be a bit of schedule juggling - our huge Christmas production is going to be that weekend, with seven different performances at the church.  Mom and Dawn, the mother of the two kids in the play we saw tonight, have been coordinating dancer costumes, and Mom's been working on all the props and costumes for other characters as well.  We've got a camel this year, plus the donkey and sheep and so on.

Getting home from our practice, and after boba tea of course, we had this huge lunch spread out before us, a meal with a Far East theme to it, with dumplings, rice, General Tso chicken, egg rolls, and all kinds of delicious food.  Mom outdid herself, again.  She always does!

I brought up one Christmas tree today, but I'll decorate it tomorrow.  Nana was watching the Christmas-themed episodes of "Blown Away," a glass blowing show where contestants make these intricate creations and compete with each other to win a prize, and a certain amount to go to a charity.  It's a fun show.

But tonight Maddie was ready to catch up on some programming of her own - the latest episode of "Mysterious Benedict Society."  Tomorrow we'll watch "Andor" and be all caught up, I think.  We didn't watch as much tonight though, because Mom was still sewing Maddie's costume together - she'll look great as a Pilgrim tomorrow.  And Maddie and I were studying our lines somewhat too.  There's still other bits of prep to do, but tomorrow is going to be a really good morning!

We finished "The Colour of Magic" tonight, with Rincewind falling off the edge of the world, not quite a cliffhanger, as in fact, he fell off.  It seems logical that we'll continue with the next book tomorrow.  It's been fun to read these again.  We said our prayers together tonight, and then we were off to sleep.  It was a good day.
