UFO

Madison had a unique homework assignment that we'll post here in a bit - she had to write about her experience on board a UFO.  It's all fiction, of course.

For "research," Daddy popped in a cheesy space movie, and afterwards Madison came up with a fantastic story!

The movie we saw beforehand was "Flight of the Navigator," which had a bit more salty language than I remember.  That is to say, the movie had more language in it than any movie we've ever shown Madison before.  That is to say, Daddy didn't preview it because he was thinking, "Hey, it's Disney, and it was the 80's and it is this harmless little UFO movie."  That is to say, Daddy blew it.  Of course, words just fly over her head - just like they did us when we were growing up.  It's amazing going back and watching some of these 'family' movies from the past and hearing all that language.  Seriously, "The Flight of the Navigator" had more language in it than the first two episodes of "Daredevil."  That's the television series that just started - the latest Marvel release.  As advertised, it's pretty dark and violent - but Daddy has always liked the Man without Fear.  I have a few comics of his downstairs.

Anyway, today we had piano.  Not too many showed up for class today, which may be the result of spring break.  Or the result of nonstop rain.  The rain has been crazy.  Tonight, it's a rainy night in Georgia.  But lately, that's kind of obvious.  Like saying there's oxygen in Georgia.  Only... I guess a song with that title wouldn't be that catchy.  Probably because there isn't much that rhymes with oxygen.

Moving on:  Mommy was pretty sick today.  We're going to do all kinds of doctor's appointments coming up, so we'll hopefully inch closer to an answer.  Without going into too much detail, there were plenty of cramps and lots of discomfort.  Daddy and Madison did the best we could to take care of her, and later on in the evening, she seemed to be improving.  In fact, she was great by the time "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came on.

She did start the taxes today.  That's tomorrow when we have to submit things.  We'll see how that goes.  One thing that did go well today was the devotional:  it is done!  I just have to submit that to the printer this week, and we'll be good to go on that one.  And as we wrap up today, here's another entire from the devotional.  One on carbon!

The rain comes down. The water rises. The winds blow and beat against that house. But it does not fall. It is built on the rock.” Matthew 7:25 NIrV

CARBON
C 6

Did you know that diamonds are made from carbon?  After intense pressure, minerals containing carbon form diamonds over long periods of time.  The end result is a brilliant diamond!
Carbon has been called a building block for life – it is a key element in everything that lives and breathes.  Did you know that you have a lot of carbon inside you?  It’s true:  our bodies are made up of 18.5% carbon.  That’s how important carbon is!
It’s been called a foundational building block.  All life starts with carbon, which combines with other elements to make over ten million different combinations – more than any other element.  It’s the starting point of creation, upon which everything else is built.  Without this foundation, there is nothing to build upon.
In our Bibles, Jesus spoke about a foundation to build upon.  It was a parable he was sharing with us: Two men built houses – one on a rock, and one on the sand.  When strong storms came, the house on the rock was the only one that could withstand the troubles.  What he was saying is crystal clear:  when we build out lives upon God’s Word, we too can make it through the storms.

Make no mistake, the storms and pressure will come.  But so long as we build our lives on the Rock, we can come out shining like a diamond!
