Another Movie Bash

Tonight's Movie Bash was great fun!  Madison and all the other children of KidPak joined us for a movie at the auditorium, and some other fun too.  Of course, there were piles of popcorn there, and candy, and drinks - and of course there was trivia afterwards.  We went through all this elaborate effort to create creative slides and challenging questions - and give away "Big Hero 6" themed prizes.  One question was our final one, a question I was sure was a stumper.  How many attempts does it take Tadashi Hamada to get Baymax working properly?

One kid got it right away:  84 tries.  The reason?  He's seen the movie probably 84 times already.  In our defense, it did just come out about a month ago, so it is still certified "fresh."  But it was also a pretty popular movie.  And to that end, we did have plenty of children show up.  We can attest to that much because of all the popcorn on the floor afterwards!

Madison had a good time tonight - this is the third time she's seen the movie.  We edited it so that the Stan Lee cameo after the credits popped up right away at the end (without the credits).  Kids don't care much for credits, but we enjoyed the artwork during that credit scene - Madison likes how they fly off at the end there.

ANYWAY, the rest of the day was work.  We filmed at the planet walk along Wilshire Trail in downtown Gainesville.  Daddy had a Buzz Lightyear toy, and we were filming by the monument for the planet Saturn.  It was a fun film shoot, one of many we'll be doing this month.

Meanwhile, Madison was acing spelling tests again.  And reading more from her "Weird School" books.  She's actually going to break the momentum a little on that, and read a Star Wars book next, believe it or not.  She's starting to really get into Star Wars a bit, which makes her Daddy proud!

Some day soon we'll walk that planetary walk together.  Daddy has done it in pieces, but it might be fun just to go for a walk some day, from the sun all the way to Pluto.  Which, as you know, is no longer a planet.  We still have a monument in Gainesville for it though, so the scientific astronomical community will just have to deal with it!

Speaking of science, here's the latest devotional entry for the elements.  Today, we're talking about chlorine!

“Even though your sins are bright red, they will be as white as snow.’“ Isaiah 1:18 NIrV

CHLORINE
Cl 17

Chlorine is probably the cleanest element there is!  Chances are, you’ve come across it recently.  Seriously, this is the element used to kill bacteria in drinking water and swimming pools. Chlorine is used to clean things.  It’s tough enough to degrease metal parts!  But it is also found when doing laundry – just ask your parents.  Bleach has that really strong smell because of the element chlorine (just don’t go inhaling that stuff!).
Bleach is pretty useful for taking stains away, but there are some stains that can’t be removed by bleach.  When it came to making us clean, Jesus couldn’t use chlorine.  Our sins made us so dark that only one thing could do the job.  Jesus had to give his life for us, and pay the price for the bad things we’ve done.
He didn’t have to do this.  Instead, he could have let us all face the punishment ourselves.  But His love for us was so much, he took our place.  Though he was innocent, he took the punishment in our place.
God once said this:  “Even though your sins are bright red, they will be as white as snow.  Even though they are deep red, they will be white like wool.”
Jesus’ love takes out even the toughest stains.  Your lab assignment for today is simple:  thank him for his love.  Thank him for his sacrifice.  And stay pure and clean, now that you know what kind of trouble it took to get those stains out!
