So tonight we were back at Cloud City. Which is ironic, because you could change the name of Gainesville this week to Cloud City. As in, we've seen nothing but clouds for seven days straight now. This amount of rain is so amazing, I wouldn't judge anyone if they felt so inclined to build an ark or something. I mean, just in case - you know? It poured rain all day long.
There were car accidents outside, one of which closed down nearby roads and had us being diverted down country lanes in the pouring rain and... well, let's just say we missed our speech therapy appointment.
Mommy did a lot of yard sale prep - tomorrow's the big day. Madison did some piano, and of course more reading. And the movie of the night was "The Empire Strikes Back." Madison has completely forgotten what happens to Han Solo, so it's like watching these again for the first time. This is one of those awesome Daddy moments, happily living vicariously through her eyes as she wonders what is going to happen next. She'll have to wait until later for "Return of the Jedi," which I know she'll love too.
It's been a busy day though - we're getting stuff ready for this weekend. May the force be with you!
Before we go, note the copper sky above. Yeah, that was a terrible transitional set-up. But regardless, here's the latest entry for the element-themed devotional:
“There is plenty of
food in that land. You will have everything you need. Its rocks have iron in
them. And you can dig copper out of its hills.” Deuteronomy 8:9 NIrV
COPPER
Cu 29
You’ve seen
copper before, right? Pennies used to be
made mostly of copper, but the one place you can find it easiest is inside
wires in your home. It’s very useful in
buildings, motors, and in the kitchen too!
With copper, you have everything you need!
In the book of
Deuteronomy, God was telling the Israelites about a Promised Land they would
all go to, one filled with milk and honey.
But He also told them there was plenty of copper to dig out of the
hills! There would be plenty of food in
that land. And just in case they forgot
who it was they were serving, God told them, “You will have everything you
need.”
Today, He’s
telling that to you as well. It may not
seem like you have a lot right now. But
don’t worry! Consider this: a copper penny might not seem like much
either. One day not long ago, Jesus
spotted a widow giving a few pieces of copper as her offering. This is what she gave to the church. Compared with other gifts, it was certainly
not that much at all.
But Jesus told those around him that she had actually given quite a bit.
But Jesus told those around him that she had actually given quite a bit.
This woman had it
all figured out. Though she didn’t have
much money at the time, she knew God would take care of her.
No matter how things look, just remember this promise from God: “You will have everything you need.”
