Monday the 13th

Today was quite a productive little day.  Daddy did a lot more devotional entries, did a lot of weeding - and Mommy was working on setting up things for doing our taxes.  Yes, it's that time of year again.  April 15th is just a couple days away.  We're hoping for a refund, of course.  Madison was busy again too - she was back to school today.  Daddy took her to ballet afterwards, and the car still smells like mulch.  We picked up about twenty bags of mulch, but haven't had a chance to put them down yet - the rain came in, and has been rather steady.  Meanwhile in California, they're praying for rain.  And here, we have sort of gotten used to it.  It feels like Northern California here, or Seattle.  Just a lot of overcast and rain.  Fortunately, no scary weather - it's been quiet so far this spring.  We'll see if that pattern settles in.  Recently, we heard a few rumbles of thunder, but that's been about it.  The temperature is cooler too, which feels nice outside - and even occasionally kind of brisk, actually.

During the ballet practice, the research continues for upcoming series:  he's reading "Moonshot," a book about the race to space.  Yes, that's coming up too.  We've got "Weird Science" and "Space Camp" back-to-back, and it's going to get busy here.  To that extent, we're a little stressed.  But we're steady on with the progress.  Daddy wrote seven entries, including this one here below:

Then the Lord God formed a man. He made him out of the dust of the ground. God breathed the breath of life into him. And the man became a living person.” Genesis 2:7 NIrV

OXYGEN
O 8

Pure and simple:  without oxygen, we cannot breath.  And did you know that your body is 65% oxygen?  It is easy to say then, that without oxygen, we are nothing.
How incredibly important this one gas is!  Take a deep breath.  There it is:  oxygen.  Without it, you would be struggling quite a bit!
It goes without saying that without God, you are struggling even more.  Without God, you are lost and desperate.
And yet how many walk about, not realizing how essential He is to our lives?  How many of us take Him for granted?
Whether we realize it or not, our lives are more dependent on God than we are the air we breathe.  His greatness impossible to measure – His love for us is impossible to fathom.
Isaiah wrote about our Heavenly Father this way:  “Who has measured the oceans by using the palm of His hand?  Who has used the width of His hand to mark off the sky?  Who has measured out the dust of the earth in a basket?  Who has weighed the mountains on scales?  Who has weighed the hills in a balance?”
This is the God we serve, the Creator of all the heavens and the earth – and the one who loves you so very much.

Take a deep breath again.  Your lab assignment this week is an easy one.  With each breath you take this week, remember God’s creation, from the stars in the skies, to each little atom of oxygen you breathe.  But remember most His amazing love for you.  Be desperate for Him.

Tonight there wasn't much time for anything beyond homework and piano practice after ballet.  We had time to eat, of course.  But that's about it.  Still, Daddy pushed the laws of bedtime back one half hour so that Madison could at least watch something or play a game at least.  She chose to watch the first episode of "The Clone Wars," which now begins a new trend. She enjoyed it, and I'm sure more episodes will follow.

And can we talk about the five books that Madison has read in four days or so?  Yes, she read all the books she got from the library already.  So Daddy went online with her, and we've reserved the next five or so.  We'll go pick them up soon enough - probably by Thursday.  It won't be long until she's read the entire series there.  And at bedtime, Daddy is reading her the "Elsa and Anna" booklets.  We finished book 1, and are now onto book 2.  This is nice time before bed!
