Dress Rehearsal

Late, late, late, late, late, late night at the church.  Easily the latest Madison has ever stayed up, although she did take a significant rest in the prop room tonight.  Josh had a mat, pillow, and blanket - so we shut off the lights and allowed Madison to sleep for an hour or more in the darkness of the prop room, right there on the floor next to all the costumes and so forth.  Meanwhile, above on the stage of the main sanctuary, the practice went on and on and on and on.  There was quite a bit of fine tuning to go on.  Fortunately, most of the kids were able to leave around 9:30.  But Madison is stuck with us, which meant we stayed there until around 1:00 am or so.  And we weren't the last ones to leave by any means.

Today was one of those days, and as we got home, we raced to bed as soon as we could.  Couldn't get there soon enough, in fact.  Tomorrow night will be our first performance, one that goes on for the next three days.  That said, Sunday afternoon will be pretty interesting for Easter.  Everyone is just completely zapped of energy already, but you can imagine the egg hunts and dinner will be a little labored for some of us.  Still, we're looking forward to that.  Madison will enjoy going out and looking for eggs, and of course we've got a special egg hunt for the nephews planned, with a QR code scavenger hunt we've made up especially for older boys who in high school.  We want to keep the 'hunting for eggs' thing going on as long as possible, right?

Anyway, lots going on, obviously.  Mommy is working furiously with the sewing and searching, and Daddy has accepted the position of helper for Mommy, getting all of these costumes on our actors and actresses on stage.  Also, props too - one of Daddy's acquisitions today was a wooden oar, which he had to go down to Buford for.  If they saw what we did to that oar, they'd be saddened!  We used sandpaper and then eventually a blowtorch of sorts to give it the effect of being a very old, wooden oar - perfect for our play.  In a matter of moments, we aged that oar 2,000 years!

Madison was having a wonderful time at practice, of course.  She's really into getting her part right, doing all the choreography and verses of the song - she wants to make sure everything is perfect.  I'm sure she'll be fine - we just need to make sure she gets enough rest!
