Florian's Famous Flangendorfers

Tonight we started our next chapter book series, "Anna and Elsa."  It's about the continuing story of Anna and Elsa from "Frozen," of course - the first two books of the series a gift from Nana and Ye-Ye at Easter.  Madison was quite content hearing chapter one, a chapter in which very little happens so far. Except, of course, a continued reference to Florian's famous flangendorfers.  When you are a Daddy reading a story to a kid, the phrase 'Florian's famous flangendorfers' is not an easy one to say repeatedly.  Still, the author of this story decided to have this word flangendorfers mentioned quite a few times in chapter one alone!

Today was a day of rest - Easter Monday.  It's almost like the day after Christmas, where the set goal is to accomplish absolutely nothing.  In that respect, we came pretty close.  Mommy and Daddy took naps today, recovering from the madness of the past few days.  Get this:  over 17,000 people came to see our production this weekend.  Daddy's idea of a story about Peter became a production that was seen by over 17,000 people in person.  That number obviously doesn't include the people watching online, which were numerous as well.

Most importantly, over 500 first-time salvations were in that number.  How blessed our family was to be such a part of this - Mommy probably worked the hardest, sewing late hours into the night.  She stressed about all the last-minute changes with actors, and struggled to find costumes at the last minute.

So she deserves a day of rest.  Madison did a great job too - hanging out at the church all this time, helping Mommy, or practicing with her friends on stage.  This is why we focused on pretty much nothing today - video games, movies, reading.  We didn't accomplish much at all, mainly because of all we accomplished this past weekend.

I hate to pat myself on the back so much, but I think all three of us deserve a Florian's Famous Flangendorfer!

    1. Sorry. Chef Florian is very secretive about his famous flangendorfers. I'm afraid the only way that any one of us can get an authentic flengendorfer is by visiting Arendelle.

  2. My daughter loves the book and has repeatedly asked me to make some. I'm trying it today with a combination of puff pastry, cake and other details mentioned in the book. Who knows if it will turn out, but she's enjoying the process.

    1. I remember our daughter enjoying all the books of this series we read to her. The stories were simple and fun to read. As for the famous flangendorfer, I think your daughter will love whatever you create, of course. I will say this: all this talk of pastries has got me wanting to try something similar!
