Solar Power

We have harnessed the power of the SUN!  This afternoon, we did a bit of a science project.  Taking a can from a meeting this morning at church, we assembled a small vehicle that is entirely powered by the sun!  Yes, it actually went across the sidewalk without any problem at all.  Once the sunlight hit that small panel, the wheels were turning right away.

Using this as an opportunity to educate, Daddy showed Madison pictures of the Mars Rover, and for fun, that video clip of Wall-E giving himself power in the morning.

Weird Science is just a week away, so we were all about science again this afternoon.  The creation we constructed is for the display case, and for further research, we watched "Son of Flubber" with some popcorn.  The football game in this movie is actually a pretty funny scene that had Madison laughing.

Church this morning finished our Kung Pow series with a kick:  a message dedicated to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  We showed clips of the turtles, talking about their characteristics and how we too should always be learning, always have joy, be courageous, and become leaders.  I'll let you figure out which characteristic fits which turtle.

It was a good morning.  We got home and did some piano practice, of course.  Madison has been working hard towards her piano recital.  We'll focus more on that this week, along with the new science theme that's coming at us like a tsunami.  May is shaping up to be the crazy busy month it has always been.  But it will be a fun one together.

Three years ago, I was in the hospital.  So it is pretty much a given that this May will be a lot better than that, right?  Yep, Daddy is built to last.  Kinda' like titanium!

Which, unlike titanium, is a really weak seque to the element we're talking about in our next devotional entry!

“Heaven and earth will pass away.  But my words will never pass away.“ Matthew 24:35 NIrV

TITANIUM
Ti 22

Titanium is strong, really strong.  It has an amazing strength-to-weight ratio, which basically means it is the Samson of elements!  Not only is it strong and lightweight – it also doesn’t tire out easily.  Better than any other element, it can withstand electricity, heat, corrosion, and time itself.
Build something with titanium, and it is built to last.  If you want a firm foundation, here it is.
If you want a firmer foundation though, you should check out the Bible.  Now here’s something built to last.  God’s Word is a foundation that has stood the test of time for thousands of years.  Want to talk about strength-to-weight ratio?  This one little book has such strength and power – it’s ridiculous!  God’s Word can bring healing, hope, and restoration.  His Word has withstood everything thrown at it, and still has the same power as the day it was first written down.
Your lab assignment is simple:  check out the strength of God’s word.  Read your Bible, and see His power in action in your life.  If you want a life that’s built to last, build it on the strongest thing you can, something even stronger than titanium.  Build it on God’s Word.
