Tragedy! Heartbreak!

Ah!  Romeo and Juliet!  Heartbreak and sadness!  And death!  Maddie made this diagram to illustrate the characters of the story and their relationship with one another.  The swords drawn!  The blood stains!  The jagged divide between Montagues and Capulets!  These violent delights have violent ends and in their trump die!  Tragedy!

I'm not sure what Maddie thinks overall of Shakespeare.  I did like "Much Ado About Nothing," but I was never one for any tragedy, as life tended to be tragic enough.  Therefore I didn't read too many of these classic plays, or watch any of their renditions on stage or on the screen.  It's not a reflection of the quality of writing, as I generally don't watch tragic movies with that much frequency.  As a result, I suppose Maddie hasn't been exposed to that many tragic movies.

Nevertheless, by fate we saw some heartbreak tonight at the Olympics.  The mixed ski jump event and the first two runs of one of our skiing stars have been soul crushing.  Hopefully we'll see more good news as the Games move on, but the "agony of defeat" was strong tonight, and you just want to reach out and give some of these athletes a virtual hug from twelve time zones away.

This evening we started the next Kingdom Keepers book "Legacy of Secrets," and we're back with Finn, Maybeck, Willa, Philby and Charlene again, all sneaking into an office area as Walt Disney takes a nap.  Our time traveling heroes are still after this mystical pen, and they're discovering something sinister that took place way back in 1955, all this while the Disneyland park was opening.  And I'm just now putting together the fact that our five time travelers are going back to the same exact year and the same exact state as one of the most famous time travelers of all, Marty McFly.  I wonder how far away Hill Valley is from Disneyland?  Of course, Marty only went back in time thirty years.  These Kingdom Keepers have gone back something like sixty-two years.  One used a DeLorean to go back in time, while the others used a carousel.  Time travel is amazing, isn't it?

Anyway, we started this book.  Yep.  And then we said our prayers, and got some sleep after that.  It's a school night, and a good night's rest never hurts!
