Rainy, rainy day today! It was a decent day though - Maddie was at school of course, and she said her day at school was fine. While she was at school we spent her a funny little message from our filming location - a trampoline park called "Launch."
It was a video we sent to her that referenced all the hexagons we saw all over the place, which is a running joke that goes back to WandaVision episodes where everyone kept seeing hexagons and thinking there was some larger meaning there. You can see Joey and Camille above yelling out, "Not the bees!" It's a reference to the hexagons and a beekeeper outfit seen early in the show, and an older terrible Nicolas Cage movie. "Not the bees" has been something said whenever hexagons are seen, and this place had a ton of them. Maddie laughed at the video message we sent.
We spent a good deal of time writing skits today and preparing for a few further events at Kidpak. The whole time, and this is a theme for the next few weeks, the Winter Olympic Games were playing in the background. The Opening Ceremonies are tomorrow, but there are preliminary games that are starting early with ice hockey and curling, and some test runs on skiing. Tonight we watched some mogul skiing, but over the course of the day I was watching a replay of a pretty good ice hockey game with Finland versus Japan. I thought that Finland was just going to run right over Japan, but in fact, the Japanese team was coordinated just swarming all over, always in the right place to pick up an errant puck. The match-up was the Swedish goalie, who was just like a brick wall. Inevitably though, the shots on goal were too much, and Japan wound up on top at the end.
Maddie had taekwondo leadership tonight, and before that the class she attends for other students where she comes to assist in instructing the younger students. It was so foggy and rainy outside, with car accidents and challenging driving conditions out there. We made it just fine, but it was that kind of night outside. Maddie's class went well. She'll be missing a few classes soon enough as she has some conflicts with play practice. The schedule next month is going to become increasingly busy.
Tonight we were watching "Cool Runnings" while Maddie was getting ready for school tomorrow. She took a shower and of course there was a bit of homework to be done, as she's been doing each evening. We read from our story, and we said our prayers after that. And as the rain continues to pour down outside, we got to sleep for a nice long winter's nap.
