Christmas in July

Today was Christmas in July at FCY, yet another festive Christmas sort of thing going on.  I mention that because we had the previous vacation that was at The Inn at Christmas Place.  Tonight's service had students dressing for Christmas - Maddie wore red tonight!

Speaking of Christmas, today we had our first Christmas production meeting today, talking about the upcoming Christmas Spectacular in December.  That will take place December 13th, 14th, and 15th, and should be a good bit like last year's, with new songs - and no acrobats in the air.  Should be pretty good, and how fitting to have a Christmas theme today.  Lots of Christmas going on, but we're ready to continue with the summer.  It's hard to think of Christmas when the temperature has been consistently in the 90's.

Mom, Maddie and I were inside most of the day though, and that was nice and cool.  We were working at the church all day long today, getting there earlier so that we can work on Summer Xtreme things.  Mom's been working on costuming and Maddie's been working on a lot of name tags.  I've been getting the slides done for various meetings, but a few other handouts that we have for parents and leaders.  We still have plenty to do.   There are plenty of others doing various tasks, decorating, getting t-shirts together, getting groups together... quite a bit.

Maddie was happy to see Emma helping out with us for a bit.  Dawn was here for the Christmas meeting, and meanwhile, Pastor Lance was over at the trampoline park that we'll be visiting for Summer Xtreme.  All kinds of prep!

Tonight we were watching a few episodes of "Suite Life of Zack and Cody," which has been super fun.  We also did some "Tropical Freeze," and only played a few levels, which is about all we can get through each time - some things are pretty tough!  But we're making progress!

We closed out the day with a short story about a Sarlacc, a story called "My Mouth Never Closes."  It was odd.  And of course bleak.  Lots of bleak stories in these books.  Lots of other things too - there are good and bad, but we keep reading on!

Tonight we said our prayers, and then it was time for bed after that.  Got another busy day of preparation tomorrow.  But one more Christmas note:  guess where we're going in a few weeks?  Yes, we made reservations for The Inn at Christmas Place!  They have Christmas crafts planned that week, and it should be really fun.  We're thinking of some other things that week too, some different destinations.  Christmas all year round!
