Maddie got a little video this weekend, one that showed a few of the photos that were taken for her senior photo session last week. I hit the pause button on the slide show and did a few screen captures. I think they came out really well! Maddie likes them too!
The morning started out at Team Edge practice, a return to taekwondo practice. Maddie was working hard with her friends there, returning for the first team practice. She was doing well, while meanwhile Mom and I were over at KidPak, getting ready for... you guessed it... Summer Xtreme. The rest of KidPak's team was there too, and in fact soon enough Maddie was joining us there for the remainder of the day. All of us were working at KidPak, getting graphics set up and things printed and things written and coordinated and so on. Busy day, lots of work. Mom was working on costumes, Maddie was helping and cutting things out, putting things in chairs and lots of other work too. It was a day we were focused on KidPak, and then this happened.
There was an attempted assassination of former President Trump. This is a miracle story, how he turned his head at just the precise moment, the bullet whizzing by just as he twisted his head and instead of hitting his skull, it went through his ear lobe. It was a stunning and tragic moment, as another person was killed by the assassin. And soon after, the assassin himself died. It is a shocking moment, and again a miracle that the former President survived. And this image came out of it all, the President rising afterwards to say, "Fight!"
It Feld like an iconic image the moment we saw it. We have no idea what happens next, but it was a monumental day for our country. I don't know if there can be healing after this, or unity or whatever. It seems as if many are calling for the national rhetoric to chill a bit more. We'll see how it goes, but until anything else happens, the country is shaken tonight.
We got to bed early, ready to rest before a big week. Before bed, we read a bit and we said our prayers. After everyone got tucked in, it was time for some sleep.
