High Tide

The water at Daytona Beach is way up the shore.  Hurricane Maria, even so far away, has pushed the water up the shore, all the way up to the barrier walls.  This is after Hurricane Irma, in fact.  Just a lot of activity this year.   One of the things we hear about are all the displaced sea turtle eggs that have to be collected and protected.  The Marine Science Center was on top of that with literally hundreds of eggs to keep safe.  There are baby sea turtles that got misdirected too, but those were protected as well.  Other than that, the damage to to Daytona wasn't too bad.  Hall County, Georgia got hit worse, in fact.  Although this one condo entrance next to Nana and Baba's didn't do so well.  This ramp will have be be rebuilt:

When the water receded somewhat, we were able to go for a bit of a walk along the shore.  The water was surprisingly warm as it rolled over our feet, and the skies were overcast.  It was a perfectly pleasant sort of walk, as our walks along the beach usually are.

We plugged this day into the schedule to spend some time with Nana and Ba-Ba, who as always were gracious hosts.   We spent the day resting - although Daddy wrote a skit for KidPak today.  We played Uno for a bit, and had lots of food, as if we were on a cruise already.  Nana got bagels and salmon for Daddy, and lots of gluten free options for Mommy.  All Madison needs is ketchup and she's good to go.

Tonight we were at the Texas Roadhouse again, eating another great meal.  Daddy's tummy was acting a little funny, so he had the fish there, and wow, it was great.  Mommy and her parents ordered the usual incredible steaks, while Madison got her chicken fingers.  With lots of ketchup.  It was a nice time together, and a nice day together with nothing really on the schedule, except for spending some time together.  Mission accomplished there!
